Job Purpose:
To be part of an innovative Clinical Informatics Research team that develops and supports high quality, efficient Healthcare research management information systems and processes for the NHS, Universities and Commercial Industries. To be responsible for providing research into the development of software solutions and to provide enterprise support to specific Clinical Research Projects.
Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities:
  1. To develop and carry out an area of Research in Medical Informatics and the development of the EDGE Platform
Application Development
  • Design, development and maintenance of web applications.
  • Design and support Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Design web services that publish and consume data from external applications.
  • Bespoke SQL report generation
  • Third line user support
  • Provide a level of Windows Server/SQL Server maintenance
  1. Regularly disseminate findings by taking the lead in preparing publication materials for referred journals, presenting results at conferences, or exhibiting work at other appropriate events.
  1. Contribute to the writing of bids for research funding.
  1. Investigate models and approaches to test and develop novel solutions to Medical Informatics.
  1. Collaborate/work on original research tasks with colleagues in other institutions.
  1. Carry out administrative tasks associated with specified research funding, for example risk assessment of research activities, organisation of project meetings and documentation. Implementation of procedures required to ensure accurate and timely formal reporting and financial control. Communication of progress with the Director of the CIRU Research Partners, managers, team members and clients.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
Microsoft Visual Studio and C#
SQL and Relational Database Theory
CSS, Javascript and/or jQuery

Design skills, specifically in a web environment

Special Requirements:
