Meeting Minutes: May 21, 2013

Subcommittee Updates
Ø Diversity Day Group
· Send out an email to IT employees about volunteering to speak about their different culture and traditions.
· Aramark to have a variety of food for diversity day at MTW and Keswick.
· Pam Thompson will be the liaison for diversity day at Keswick.
· Work on getting giveaways.
Ø Diversity Awareness Group
· Etan Weintraub will be directing the video for diversity committee.
· Carolyn Combs will be editor for the IT Diversity newsletter.
· Any ideas for the video or newsletter, please contact Etan or Carolyn.
Ø Calendar of Events Group
· Focus on bulletin boards at MTW on 1st-2nd floor. Next work on putting up a board at Lancaster St.
· Eric is working with Jim Callahan in finding a location for a bulletin board accessible to everyone.
· Scott Biggs was able to get a board installed on the 2nd floor, just beyond the double doors.
· If anyone from the Council has suggestions, please contact JoAnn.
Ø Sponsorship/Community Organizations Group-
· Joe suggested that each group figure out how much they may need for their projects.
· Joe received questions about possibly volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. Currently JHU is or has been involved with Habitat for Humanity. For more information please go to http://www.jhu.edu/habitat
· In addition, Etan and Lisa spoke about another organization called Chai. For additional information please view the website www.chaibaltimore.org.
· If any employee(s) are interested in volunteering at a high school it is easier to go through the school directly than the school board.
