"Songs of the Celtic Soul"

Elizabeth Walsh, a soprano with a strong interest in early music spanning the 10th

through the18th centuries, will perform'Anam Cara - Songs of the Celtic Soul' March 15th in Providence. Her experience alsoincludes Medieval and Renaissance music, music of 15th century Burgundy, Baroque, and opera.Elizabethhas sung with the St. Ambrose Schola Cantorum at Holy Name Parish in Providence, RI under the direction of Jacob T. Stott for seven years. For three years Elizabeth regularly performed Burgundian music of the late 15th century in connection with historical re-enactments at the Higgins Amory Museum in Worcester, MA.

The program will include some of Elizabeth's favorite Traditional Celticpieces and songs in the Traditional Celtic style, including somefrom the Baroque andClassical eras. Featuredpieces include 'My Lagan Love', 'Where e'er You Walk', and 'The Lark in the Clear Air'.

Elizabeth studies voice through the Eva Kendrick Voice Studio which has produced

a wealth of talented singers. Kendrick’s students have won several awards in the Boston Lyric Opera Aria Competition for Teens, the Boston Pops/Futurestage Competition and National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Awards for Art Song & Aria as well as Musical Theatre. Her student Marcus D’Angelobegan his appearancein Matilda on Broadwaylast fall.

Jacob Stott is the Music Director and Organist at the Church of the Holy Name of

Jesus, in Providence Rhode Island. There, he conducts and accompanies the Holy Name Schola Cantorum. He also works with the Holy Name Gospel Choir, and the Holy Name African Choir. Aside from accompanying and collaborating with local soloists and artists, Mr. Stott has given lectures, master classes, and recitals at the Lyndon Institute, in Lyndonville Vermont. He has performed at numerous venues throughout New England including the Chopin Club, at Marble House and the Breakers in Newport. Mr. Stott is also on faculty at the Community College of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College.Jacob specializes in domestic keyboard music of the Elizabethan and Jacobean periods, 16th and 17th century Flemish and Dutch domestic keyboard music, 18th century Spanish, Portuguese and Basque keyboard music, as well as music of the Eastern Churches.

WHAT: Soprano Elizabeth Walsh and Keyboardist Jacob Stott will present a

concert of Traditional Celtic music and music in the Celtic style.
