Robert Gant

Robert Gant was most recently seen on the WB’s Popular as the eccentric Vice-Principal. His other television work includes guest-starring roles on Friends, Caroline in the City, Veronica’s Closet, Becker, Melrose Place, and Ellen. He also appeared in the independent film The Contract and will be seen in Fits and Starts to be released in 2002.

Gant began acting in television commercials at the age of ten. At eleven, he found himself doing a soft-shoe routine with Bob Hope as part of Hope’s USO tour. Following high school, Gant headed to the University of Pennsylvania and then on to Georgetown Law School. While studying law, he never gave up on his true passion, acting, and continued to perform in numerous theatrical productions. He moved to Los Angeles to work in the world’s largest law firm and in a twist of fate, four months after his relocation, the Los Angeles office was closed. Taking that as an omen, he made the decision to focus all of his time on his acting and has been working ever since.

Hunky Ben Bruckner is more than just eye candy for smitten comic store owner Michael. A professor of gay studies at Carnegie Mellon University, Ben is smart, sexy, funny and warm. He's the perfect mate for any eligible bachelor - as long as they are willing to overlook that he's HIV positive.

Jennifer Taylor

Thrust into a tough position as family mediator when her son Justin revealed he was gay, Jennifer Taylor's stubborn personality prevented her from simply just "giving up" on her son.

Living with Justin's angry, belligerent dad prompted Jennifer to let her true colors shine, and now the love of her children comes first and foremost.

At first, she struggled, not with Justin's sexuality, but with the fact that he was spending many sleepless nights with Brian Kinney, a 30-year-old man. Fearful of losing him entirely, Jennifer decided it was best to rip a page from Debbie's unwritten handbook on being the mother of a gay son and meet him half way, so to speak. Supportive of her son's decision to attend the Pittsburgh Institute of Fine Arts, she stalwartly chose to divorce Justin's father, rather than live with his intolerance.

Daphne Chanders

Daphne Chanders is the kind of friend everybody wishes they had: she's cute, cool, accepting, understanding, daring, forgiving, and, most importantly has a keen eye for fashion. Justin's best friend at the St. James Academy, she puts up with (almost) all of his mood swings and angst.

Sure, she may have gotten a little "weird" after her and Justin hit the hey together. But what's a girl to do? Being in love with a confident, gay male can't be all that easy.

Makyla Smith

Makyla Smith began her career just a few short years ago after spending a lifetime watching her mother, renowned Canadian actress Alison Sealy-Smith, perform in Television.

Uncle Vic Grassi

Although middle-aged and struggling with AIDS, Uncle Vic is still in good spirits, and hasn't lost his dry sense of humour.

Two winters ago, his sister Debbie, with whom he now lives, took him on a tour of Italy. But what was suppose to be a last hurrah, actually tuned into nothing more than a pricey vacation when his HIV medication kicked in and gave him a new lease on life. Thanks to the wonder-cocktail and Melanie's legal prowess, Liberty Ave. will continue to enjoy the pleasure of Uncle Vic's company for some time to come.
