Orienteering Club has continued to be successful. The school have been entered into the Avon Schools league, and with three events lest to be held, Gordano have secured enough points to be crowned Avon Champions!
Our Friday early mornings G&T sessions continue to be a success. Students are being taken through a fitness and skill improvement programme.
The Under 15 girls football team have finally been knocked out of the National Cup. This is a competition that started with nearly 400 teams up and down the country, and we reached the last four. It was a long journey up to Ealing in West London, and although we were beaten 1-3, the team put in a spirited performance and did themselves and the school proud. We will be hoping to go one stage further next year!
The Under 16 girls football team won the final of the Somerset Cup with a fantastic win against Frome, scoring the winning goal with the final kick of the game!
Our elite sports men and women were treated to a fantastic day out at @Bristol where we had been invited to test out a new Olympic exhibition which will tour the country between now and the Olympic Games. The added bonus was that we also got the chance to meet Sir Steve Redgrave and the students were able to test their level of fitness against him. Points West and the Bristol Evening Post were in attendance and students had to get used to dealing with the many aspects of the media, something they did extremely well.
The girls Indoor Athletics team have done fantastically well this term. The Year 8 team qualified to represent North Somerset in the Avon Schools Championships held at UWE in February. It was a really good afternoon with eight teams entered in each age group. The Year 8s finished second overall. A great achievement.
