Guidance notes

Who may apply?

The Carnegie-Cameron Taught Postgraduate Bursaries are open to students who are Scottish by birth, by descent (at least one parent born in Scotland) or residence (at least 3 years of schooling in Scotland for secondary and/or tertiary education).

The Bursaries are not intended for students wishing to pursue a PhD. When awarding the Bursaries, preference will be given to students who wish to undertake a taught postgraduate Masters that will enhance their employability in any chosen field, develop their specialist skills, or supplement existing ones, thus bettering their career prospects.

The financial circumstances of applicants will also be taken into consideration during the selection process.

Any student meeting the above criteria and accepted on a one year Taught Postgraduate degree may apply, regardless of the results obtained for their undergraduate degree.

What courses are eligible?

All taught one year (or two consecutive years if studying part-time) postgraduate degree courses are eligible. Postgraduate diploma or certificate courses are not eligible.

The Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland is registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 and complies with the provisions of the Act. Applicants are reminded that, in order for the Carnegie Trust to assess applications, it will be necessary to store and process the information sent, and to make it available to the Selection Panel. Data will be securely held and lawfully processed, it will be kept up-to-date, and not retained for longer than necessary. Data may also be used to compile published lists of award holders, which may be available on the Internet and in the Trust’s Annual Report. The Trust may contact applicants about its funding schemes, application processes and policies or to help evaluate these.
