SWIMMING COMMITTEE 2015
1. County Championships:
a. Venues - The Galas were held at the Manchester Aquatic Centre and Picton Pool with a full Olympic Programme and we are most grateful to the Event Manager and staff at both pools for their considerable help and co-operation in staging the event.
b. Programme & Entries – The number of entries were as predicted down. This was mainly due to losing the 9 year age group following the change to the competition format. The sessions ran well with no major hiccups and coaches and officials had a decent break between sessions. The general feedback from clubs has been positive.
The Championships will be held at Manchester in 2016. There was a review of the 2015 championships and as all was positive the programme is going ahead with just a few minor changes. The 2016 Championships are being held in January which is the recommended period in line with the new competition review.
The Association wishes to express their thanks to all the club personnel for their co-operation.
Volunteers - We had a full complement of technical officials at each of the galas and we are very grateful to those who supported this competition and to Helen Whittle who organised the Officials. We were able to mentor trainee officials. We are most grateful to the willing band of helpers to help with the door, swimmers presentations and refreshments.
2. County Team
Fourteen in a row!!! The team spirit was great and all the swimmers were keen to win again. Everyone bonded together. Thanks to team coaches John Stout and Heather Fredrickson and Team Manager/Chaperone Carolyn Dawe. Thanks also to Captains Holly Hibbott and Joshua Thompson.
3. Acknowledgements
Thank you to all who have helped in any way to make 2015 another successful year for Lancs County WPSA.
