Albert Heslop Memorial Travel Grant

Call for applications from young farmers

SunRISE Mapping and Research is pleased to call for applications from eligible horticulturalists and primary producers from the Murray Valley for the 2016 Albert Heslop Memorial Travel Grant.

Albert Heslop

The Travel Grant was established in honour of Albert Heslop, a State viticulturist, councillor of Swan Hill and Life Member of the Murray Darling Association.

Albert Heslop was always motivated to assist in developing primary production and market opportunities in the Murray Valley region, particularly to introduce new crops, develop the skill base of industry members and support emerging or developing enterprises.

Sponsors

The 2016 travel grant is generously funded by Australian Garlic Producers, Best Bottlers, Minter Magic, Murray Mallee Training and Tasco Petroleum.

Application forms for the Albert Heslop Travel Grant are available on the SunRISE Mapping website www.sunrisemapping.org.au or can be requested via email or by phoning SunRISE Mapping on 03 5021 7492.

2015 Albert Heslop travel grant winner

Tim Farnsworth was the Albert Heslop Travel Grant recipient in 2015. Tim used the grant for travel to a specialised nursery in Toowoomba where he learnt more about grafting of seedless watermelon varieties, and to attend the National melon conference.

/ 2015 grant recipient: Tim Farnsworth, irrigator Coomealla NSW.
“Use of grafted watermelons will be essential to the future of watermelon production, as it enables subsequent crops to be planted through an extended season and be highly productive in the same patch of soil.”
