Atlantic recording artist Birdy has announced details of her much-anticipated full-length US debut album. “FIRE WITHIN” – which includes the hit single, “Skinny Love” – arrives on June 3rd.
Released last year to great acclaim in Birdy’s native England, “FIRE WITHIN” sees the talented singer/songwriter furthering her distinctive songwriting in collaboration with some of today’s most talented studio superstars, including Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic, Adele, One Direction), Dan Wilson (Taylor Swift, Pink, Adele), Sia and Mumford & Sons’ Ben Lovett. What’s more, the new US edition of “FIRE WITHIN” has been amended to further include the smash single, “People Help The People,” as well as her worldwide hit rendition of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love,” which topped charts around the planet upon its initial 2011 arrival (see attached tracklisting).
In addition Birdy has recorded three new tracks for the highly anticipated soundtrack to the 20th Century Fox film, The Fault in Our Stars. The Fault in Our Stars –Music From the Motion Picture soundtrack will be released on May 19th while the film based on John Greene’s #1 bestseller will be out on June 6th. Currently showcased among the rising stars included in Gap’s Spring 2014 “Lived In” global marketing campaign, Birdy will celebrate the domestic release of “FIRE WITHIN” by joining fellow Atlantic recording artist Christina Perri as special guest on her eagerly anticipated North American tour. A remarkably powerful and charismatic live performer, Birdy recently performed “Skinny Love” live on the nationally syndicated Queen Latifah Show, on Wednesday, April 2nd. The appearance continues a series of high profile TV performances for Birdy, including a recent show-stopping visit to NBC’s TODAY.
Birdy – who recently earned a BRIT Awards 2014 nomination in the “British Female Solo Artist” category – made her long anticipated US debut late last year with the extraordinary “BREATHE” EP. In addition to songs such as the new album’s “Wings,” the EP was accompanied by a stunning new companion video for “Skinny Love.” The clip – directed by Sophie Muller (Rihanna, Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey) – is streaming now alongside an array of other videos and live performances at Birdy’s official YouTube channel,
Known to friends and family as Jasmine van den Bogaerde, Birdy has been widely acclaimed as one the most gifted young singer/songwriters in modern pop. The soon-to-be 18-year-old artist proved an international sensation from the start as her eponymous 2011 debut album made a top 20 debut in her native UK while shooting straight to #1 in Australia, Belgium, France, and the Netherlands. Singles such as “People Help The People,” “Shelter,” and “1901” were equally successful, scoring gold and platinum certifications in such countries as the UK, Ireland, Belgium, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Australia (where “Skinny Love” was a chart-topping, 5x-platinum certified sensation).
