  1. Define: neutrality and involvement

Neutrality: The United States’ attempt to remain out of the conflict prior to WWII. Achieving this included appeasement of Hitler as he took over more land. Neutrality quickly turned into involvement through the embargo on oil, then the lend lease act, and of course, joining the war after pearl harbor.

involvement: The US shifted from Neutrality to Involvement after the Pearl Harbor attacks. After, FDR declared war on Japan, which resulted in Germany declaring war on us.

  1. What is Executive Order 9066?

Executive order 9066 was a government ordered declaration, which forced Japanese Americans to live in ‘internment camps’, which sectioned all people of Japanese descent into areas where they lived away from other Americans. This was put in place as a matter of national security during WWII. It is highly controversial.
