JACKSON COUNTY HOME AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION

EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES · 2017

1. The Jackson County HCE (Home and Community Education) organization will be awarding one $500 Education Scholarship to a college or technical college student who has satisfactorily completed at least one semester, quarter, or term, and has re-enrolled in an accredited college or technical college program.

DEFINITION OF STUDENT: A Jackson County HCE member, his/her spouse, child, or grandchild.

The field of study is the choice of the applicant.

2. In order to be eligible to receive the HCE Scholarship, the applicant must:

a. Be a full and/or part time undergraduate student.

b. Have at least one semester, quarter and/or term of acceptable grades from a college or technical college and be re-enrolled in an accredited college or technical college. School does not have to be in Wisconsin.

d. NOT be a previous HCE Education Scholarship winner.

e. Turn in all completed necessary forms by the deadline and follow up with the Extension Office to be sure that the letter of recommendation has been received by the July 1, 2017 deadline.

3. Each application will include:

a. A letter of recommendation. You may find it helpful to follow up to be sure the letter meets the deadline.

b. A personal story. Refer to Part 3.

4. Applications are available from the Jackson County UW-Extension Office, 227 South 11th Street, Black River Falls, WI 54615

5. The applicant is responsible for having the completed scholarship application submitted by July 1, 2017 to: Jackson County UW-Extension, 227 South 11th Street, Black River Falls, WI 54615 ATTN: HCE Education Scholarship.

6. The Education Scholarship Committee will screen the applications and will select the applicant to receive the award. The selection will be announced at the HCE Fall Business Meeting/Fall Round-Up.

7. The Scholarship money will be paid directly to the college or technical college when the applicant has satisfactorily completed one semester, quarter or term and has re-enrolled for continued education.

PART 4: TRANSCRIPT

Attach a copy of your last semester, quarter and/or term grades from the school where you were/are enrolled.

PART 5: LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

Ask one adult to write a letter of recommendation for you (college or technical school instructor or a community contact).

Ask the person to address these qualities: leadership, work habits, character, ability to work with others.

The letter of recommendation can be sent directly to Jackson County UW-Extension (address found on cover letter of application).

PART 6: SIGNATURE
