Checking It Out

Check the box for any signs of severe damage as you are unpacking your system. If shipping damage is found to the contents, please notify the carrier immediately. Do not unpack any more.

If no damage is found, please continue to unpack your system and proceed with the Installation Guide.

Identification

Your Neptune 4-Series unit consists of the following components:

Please take the time to inspect and familiarize yourself with the system.

* 3/4" Inlet hose adapter

* 1μm sediment filter cartridge

* MATRIKX +1 (0.6μm) HIGH VOC Carbon Block cartridge

* Membrane housing w/screw on cap

* CSM Membrane 50, 80, or 100 GPD depending on the model

* (3) 10" Clear canisters

* (2) clips used to connect the membrane housing to the main body

* Auto shut off switch (Deluxe models ONLY)

* Pressure gauge (Deluxe models ONLY)

* White aluminum plate

* Tubing ; white (inlet water), red (intermediate), blue (product water),

black (waste water)

* Flush Valve / Flow restrictor -- located on waste water (black) line

* Check valve -- located on blue “RO” line

* Opening wrench tool

Your system has been inspected prior to packing and should contain all necessary components. If any component is missing please notify us at:

Email: .

Once you have identified the components to your system proceed to the installation.

Installation

Now that you are familiar with the system, please follow these installation instructions carefully.

* CONNECT THE TUBING. Insert the white, black, and blue lines correctly.

WHITE TUBING ; water inlet connected to "in" of the first canister with the sediment

cartridge.

BLACK TUBING ; waste water line connected after the flush valve.

BLUE TUBING ; product water line connected to "out" of the last canister.

* INSTALLING THE MEMBRANE.

The membrane housing can be hand tightened or loosened. Simply grasp the

membrane housing and twist the cap counterclockwise to open. Make sure the rubber

O-Ring is in place when you unscrew and tighten the canister back up. Unwrap the

membrane and place it into the housing making sure it is inserted all the way in. The

direction of insertion of the membrane should be the same direction you read the label

on the membrane from left to right. The red line entering the membrane cap should be

inserted approximately 1/2"-3/4" inside the cap. Hand tighten the cap making sure

that it is not over tightened.

* UNWRAP SEDIMENT AND CARBON CARTRIDGES.

Take the opening wrench tool and unscrew the 10" clear canisters containing the

sediment and carbon cartridges. Each canister contains a rubber O-Ring and should

always make sure it is in place after every installation of a new cartridge. Both

sediment and carbon cartridges are sealed with wrapping material that needs to be

unwrapped.

The refillable DI Resin canister is not sealed and is ready for use.

* All Neptune 4-Series filters are connected in the following way. Please follow the path

along the unit to familiarize yourself and to make sure that the unit is connected

properly.

A) From the hose adapter water first enters the sediment cartridge through the white

line and then goes into the carbon cartridge in the middle canister.

B) Next the red line takes the water to the membrane.

C) Water exits the membrane housing through the blue line (RO water) and the black

line (waste water).

D) The blue RO line then enters the DI Resin canister. It also exits with a blue line as

product RODI water.

* Take the 3/4" garden hose adapter (white line) and screw it on your 3/4" inlet water

source. If a faucet adapter is needed, one can be purchased separately from our website.

In order to disconnect any of the quick connect fittings on your Neptune system,

depress the ring around which the tubing is inserted and pull the tubing out. To connect

the tubing back, simply press the tubing in the hole until it presses all the way in.

In order to disconnect any of the quick connect fittings on your Neptune system, depress the ring around which the tubing is inserted and pull the tubing out. To re-connect the tubing, simply press the tubing in the hole until it presses all the way in.

IMPORTANT : FLUSH SYSTEM PRIOR TO USE.

* FLUSH THE SYSTEM. Disconnect the blue line entering the resin canister, turn on water supply and flush for 40 minutes prior to collecting water for use. Reconnect the blue line after flushing. Flush system in a similar fashion every time you replace a new membrane. This way the flush water does not enter the resin canister and use up the resin faster.

* Your system is now ready to go!

The product water will now come out from the blue line.

Discard the water from the black line (waste water) into a drain.

Maintenance

To insure your system performs to its optimal capacity, please conduct proper maintenance schedules. All necessary replacement components and accessories can be purchased from us at (www.PoseidonWarehouse.com).

Your Neptune 4-Series system has four main components that require periodic service:

1) The sediment filter cartridge should be replaced approximately every three months or

when it shows signs of discoloration (example: darkens with brownish tint).

2) KX MATRIKX +1 Carbon Block Filter. Change this cartridge approximately 7000

gallons of use / or every six months. Depending on the severity of the incoming

water conditions, and the usage, this cartridge can be changed more often for optimal

results.

3) The MBD-30 DI Resin canister will change to a golden color from the bottom towards

the top. When this color change has approximately consumed 3/4 of the canister,

purchase a refill pack of MBD-30 color changing resin and refill the canister.

4)The CSM membrane should be replaced when the TDS (total dissolved solids) levels

begin to rise above 10ppm. Depending on water quality and the frequency of your

inline cartridge changes, membranes can last 1-3 years before replacement is

necessary.

FLUSHING THE MEMBRANE: Included with your 5-series RODI system is a flush valve. This flush valve serves as a flow restrictor that allows only certain amount of waste water to flow out maximizing your RO production. The flush valve also serves as a cleaning mechanism for the membrane. When the black switch on the flush valve is set perpendicular to the body, it is in normal operating position and flush valve operates as a flow restrictor. When the black switch is set parallel to the body, the flush valve operates as a flushing agent that allows maximum water to run through the membrane thus flushing “cleaning” it out. It is recommended to flush the membrane once a month for 20 minutes.

Troubleshooting

The water from the black line comes out faster than that from the blue line. This is normal. All reverse osmosis filter systems have a ratio of Waste Water / RO Water of about 4 gallons to 1. This ratio is due to the way membranes are manufactured. Only a small portion of water in comparison to the total volume entering the membrane housing will actually pass through the core of the membrane and become "RO" water. The remainder bypasses the core of the membrane and goes to "waste" water.

Can I disconnect the system and reconnect it later on? Yes. You may make the desired amount of water that you need, and then disconnect the system from the water supply for use later on.

Will this work on an under pressured water supply (<60psi)? Yes. As with all ro's, you may run water through this unit that is less than 60psi. The quality of water that is being produced will be the same, however, the ratio of waste water to ro water might increase due to less pressure forcing water through the membrane core. In this case a booster pump to increase the psi and the efficiency of the system should be hooked up.

Can I use this on a well system? Yes. This filter can be used on a well supply. However, do to the nature of well water supplies, the extra mineral, heavy metal and sulfur content of the water, will cause the sediment and carbon cartridges to require replacement quicker than what they are rated for. Please pay close attention to these cartridges and replace them when and if you think it is necessary. Do not let contaminated water enter the membrane of the RO for it will damage it. It is suggested to invest in a TDS (total dissolved solids) meter to measure the initial water quality entering and being produced by your system.

Can I use this filter with a float valve? ONLY DELUXE MODELS containing the auto shut off feature can be connected to a float valve. Non-deluxe models that are connected to a float valve will continue to waste water even when the float valve is shut. Users of Neptune non deluxe models may purchase an auto shut off kit separately to enable their systems to be float valve compatible.
