BIM Project Audit Preparations

This document contains the audit instructions protocols to maintain consistency across the CompanyOffice.

The criteria for a project to be audited are:

  • Project will be beyond sketch design stage
  • The Standard Notice of BIM Project Audit has been sent out to the Project Architect and Revit Model Leader with at least 7 days notice, includinga reminder of the points that will be assessed and give guidance as required

Project Selection

  • Consult the quality insurance manager about the forthcoming audit and what projects are intended to be audited
  • The selected project will be audited as per the following standards:

Desktop Audit

  • Print screen-shots (Alt+ Print Screen) of folder structure, file names etc. Place in Appendix A
  • Select 5-10% of sheet files and model files (16 files maximum)
  • Print selected files at A3 (mark-up additional comments here)
  • Print screen-shots (Alt+ Print Screen) of the Revit work sets. Place in Appendix A
  • Review points on Revit audit sheet

This document contains the Audit checklistprotocols to maintain consistency across the office. The BIM Project Audit checklist should be read with Named Standards. The audit should be carried out by the BIM Manager.

Print all sheets out to complete the rest of the audit
46 / Notes - Upper Case / Are all the text notes in upper case lettering
47 / Notes - Spelling / Is the spelling correct in the entire job
48 / Titleblocks - Drawing Location / Have the floor plan drawings been placed in a consistent spot on the title block for every level
49 / Titleblocks - Multiple Drawing Locations / Have multiple drawings been place in the right location with ground the floor plan on the bottom left hand side of the title block followed by the level 1 above it then level 2 etc.
50 / Titleblocks - North Point / Has the north point been turned off all the elevations, sections & details
51 / Titleblocks - Viewports / Has the correct viewport markers be placed on the sheets hexagon for floor plans, circle for sections & elevations
52 / Titleblocks - Information / Has the title block information been filled out correctly and is in CAPS
53 / Titleblocks - Revisions / Have all the revisions be clouded and tagged

Review / Discussion

Sit down with project Revit model leader to review Revit audit sheet and any drawings/comments made.

Check the following;

  • Drawing filing - incoming, outgoing
  • Check prints
  • Review audit check points
  • Agree with project architect and Revit model leader action plan to address areas of concern.
