Exhibitions / Published work

Summer 2016 – The Living Archive. Funded as part of the Year of Making 2016, Archive Sheffield produced a series of 4 publications of documentary photography about Sheffield, and staged 4 exhibitions across the city, culminating in an exhibiton in the Winter Gardens.

July 2016 – Made in Sheffield, The Milennium Gallery. Short film ‘melt shop’ exhibited as part of an exhibition exploring the range of craft and industry in the city.

May 2015, May 2014 – This is Our City film screenings, The Showroom cinema. Screening of the short films ‘melt shop’ and ‘occasional sensations’ as part of Storying Sheffield’s programme of events.

February 2015 – The City as Bricolage. One of three Archive Sheffield photographers to stage a week-long exhibition in Sheffield Cathedral as part of an Arts Council funded project to produce new photographic work in Sheffield to be archived for future generations. Documented 20 places of worship encompassing 10 different faiths.

September 2014 – The Tactile Image, Festival of the Mind. One of a team of photographers and designers who worked with the RNIB to produce an exhibition of photography accessible to blind people, the first exhibition of its kind. This was in response to Archive Sheffield’s mentor Clive Egginton losing his sight after developing a brain tumour.

February 2014, 2015, 2016 – The Image Speaks. Commissioned to work with 10 Arts & Humanities PhD students at the University of Sheffield. Working with each student to produce a photographic document of an aspect of their PhD research. Exhibited publicly in the Jessops West building at the University of Sheffield.

September 2013 – Toys 1870s – 2000s. Commissioned to produce permanent artwork for the A&E department at the Chidlren’s Hospital. Working with a variety of local and national museums, I photographed some of the most popular toys from every decade that the hospital has been in existence.

May – June 2013 – The Motorway Service Station as a Destination in its Own Right, Bank Street Arts, Sheffield. Group Show around the theme of service stations

May – June 2013 – You’re not alone, The Workstation, Sheffield. Fully public, expanded version of the exhibition listed below

December 2012 – It’s Nice That annual of the year.

After some of my work from ‘you’re not alone’ was featured on influential design blog It’s Nice That, it was included in the printed annual of their favourite work of the year.

February – June 2012 – You’re Not Alone, The Children’s Hospital, Sheffield.

Exhibition of work produced by myself and two other photographers given complete access to the Children’s Hospital in Sheffield for a period of several weeks. Arts Council funded.

October 2011 – Now Then magazine featured artist.

Sheffield magazine Now Then (circulation 30,000) featured a portfolio of my work throughout the issue.

August 2010 – Sheffield Group Photographers Show, Bank Street Arts, Sheffield.

A series of portraits taken in Sheffield, shown alongside the work of 10 other Sheffield-based photographers.

Talks and Teaching

July 2016 – Iphone photography workshop, The Tinder foundation. Working with a team of researchers to assist them in getting the most out of iphone photography to document their clients and services.

March 2016 Leading Workhops, Sheffield Hallam University. Running a series of workshops with Arts Foundation students on photographing artwork.

January 2016 Lecture and workshops, Sheffield Hallam University. Presenting an introduction to photography and photographing work to graphic design undergraduates.

Spring 2015 – Documentary photography workshops, King Edwards School. Running a series of practical photography workshops with year 9 art and design students.

February 2015 – Clive Egginton Memorial Lecture, Leeds Beckett University. One of several members of Archive Sheffield giving a short lecture about my work and work of our collective.

May 2012 – Pecha Kucha, Sheffield Cathedral. Presentation of my work from the Children’s Hospital to a general audience.

March 2012 – Push Pull, Bank Street Arts. Presentation of Children’s Hospital work to an audience of photographers, focusing on aspects of working including gaining access and editing work for different uses.
