Blues 15 minutes week one, 20 minutes week two
Funk: 20 minutes week one, 20 minutes week two. Includes viewing of James Brown on youtube.
Jam Bands: 20 minutes week one, 15 minutes week two
Blues: Must include at least 7 songs from Blues folder. All listen to Wang Dang Doodle, HootchieCootchie Man and both versions of Stormy Monday (compare/contrast).
Funk: Include all from the folder as well as listen/watch James Brown on youtube. Links at the top of this page.
Jam Bands: Must include compare/contrast between the 2 versions of Sugar Magnolia in the folder. The rest is your choice. Groups include Phish, The Grateful Dead, Dave Matthews Band, The Disco Biscuits, String Cheese Incident. More info at jambands.com and wikipedia.
As usual, write-ups about separate songs, genres, and longer information about use of improvisation in each of these genres. You can get specific with information and songs (i.e. comparing the solo in one song to another, etc.) Though there are several songs in the folder that you are requested to listen to, you may use as many of the others that you are interested in as well.
