6.EVENT AND STATUS:

The event will be known as the Mafikeng 200 and will count towards the Northern Region Regional & Platinum Club Series for senior bikes and quads.

Race head quarters will be at Group 20. The race will be run from Race headquarters.

The event will start on Saturday, 4 June 2011, 06h30 when documentation commences and will be deemed to have finished, once the results are final.

The MSA flag will be flown for the duration of the event.

DESCRIPTION

Competitors who have not completed documentation & self scrutineering will not be permitted to start racing which will commence at 09h00 for all quad classes and 13h00 for all bike classes on Saturday, 4 June 2011.

Competitors will be required to complete documentation formalities as detailed in the MSA handbook

8.1JUDGES OF FACT:

The following persons are appointed as judges of facts as per the GCR’s of the MSA Handbook.

  • Timekeepers.
  • Marshals
  • Roving marshals

8.2 DUTIES:

  • Judges of fact will check and report on any transgressions in terms of the motorcycle

and quad SSR’s as well as the GCR’s.

  • Timekeepers for checking of the route cards at race control as to how many marks

appear on each lap.

9.ENTRANTS LICENCE:

Where the entrant is NOT the rider an entrants licence must be obtained from MSA prior to the submission of the entry form failing which, the entrants name may not be published on the results.

10.ENTRIES:

  • Entries open immediately and close on Thursday, 2 June 2011, 17h00 by which time a properly completed entry form, medical and scrutinizing form with the correct amount to be in the possession of the organisers. Entries not accompanied by the relevant fee will not be accepted.
  • If you need to withdraw your entry for whatever reason – you will need to notify the organisers in writing not later than Friday, 3 June 2011. You will be refunded, less a handling fee of 10% once the organisers receive your withdrawal within the set time allowed.

Faxed entries will be accepted in terms of (GCR 96). Competitors wishing to enter by fax or e-mail must deposit the money directly into Mafikeng bank account and send the proof of payment / copy of deposit slip is to be faxed to the number given. Competitors are to write their name and competition number onto the deposit slips / proof of payment to ensure the correct allocation of the entry fee.

Competitors entering by fax or e-mail must bring the original documents to documentation.

12.RIDERS BRIEFING:

Riders briefing will take place in the pre-race paddock at 08h15 for all bike and quad classes. All riders must be present at the briefing; representatives will not be allowed but may accompany the rider to the briefing.

13.FORMAT:

The racing section will be about 200km, comprising of 4 laps of 50km per lap with a service point at the end of every lap. There will be no additional refuel points.

STARTING ORDER:

According to overall Regional points, thereafter Platinum competitors according to overall Platinum points.

PITTING:

Servicing and refuelling will only be allowed in the demarcated pit area. Adequate fire extinguishers must be available in this area and environmental mats are compulsory for each competitor.

All competitors will pass through the pit area after every lap. They may only ride in 1st gear and may not exceed 20 km per hour. Any competitor deemed to be travelling faster than this speed will be penalised 1 minute, they will be placed in a hotbox area for this time. Once the competitor has left the pit area, he / she may then continue at racing speed.

No motorcycles will be allowed to race or be tested in the pits by any competitor or crewmember during any stage of the event

Failure to comply will result in immediate exclusion.

No smoking or drinking will be permitted in the pit area.

ROUTE MARKING:

The route shall be marked with orange day-glow stickers.

Green day-glow will be used for “no entry” areas.

Multi day-glow stickers and dangerous tape will be used to mark dangerous or hazardous areas.

ROUTE CONTROL:

  • There will be route check point marshals out on the track - a warning board will be placed 100m, 50m and 20m before the check point - you must stop at these marshal points - the marshal will tick the route sticker on your helmet and then inform you that you can continue.
  • In the Pit a Stop / Go Control will take place - a marshal will tick the sticker on your helmet and inform you that you can continue.
  • The Finish of the event will take the form of a Timed Control Point.
  • All competitors will be issued with a “stick on” route check control card at documentation. This card is the competitor’s proof of passage through control points. Loss of this card may result in the competitor concerned being classified as a non-finisher.
  • The onus rests on the competitor to hand in their route card at the timed control point.
  • The “Stick On” route check control card must be affixed to the LEFT hand side of the helmet ABOVE the goggle strap.

END OF RACE:

The waving of the chequered flag will signify the end of the race.

For a competitor to be classed as a finisher:

Must complete the full distance within the prescribed time. Competitor’s elapsed time

together with any penalties will be used to determine the competitor’s total time for the

event. The competitor with the least total time will be declared the winner of the event.

TIME BAR:

The time bar may be extended by the Clerk of the Course at his/her discretion.

Should a competitor arrive at the DSP after the time bar specified or as extended by the Clerk of the Course, he will be time barred from the event. He will be required to hand in his route check control card and will be excluded from the results. The organisers will not be responsible for sweeping and/or medical recovery of any competitor who disregards a marshal’s instructions in this regard.

14.OFFICIAL NOTICE BOARD:

The Official Notice Board will be situated at race control, Group 20. All results will be posted on this board and competitors are requested to check the official board periodically.

15.RESULTS:

Results will be posted on the Official Notice Board as soon as possible after the finishing of the race. Results may not be removed, without authority; disciplinary action will be taken against any competitor found removing these results.

Should there be unreasonable delay in announcing the results, the Stewards of the meeting may postpone such announcement, refer 2011 MSA Handbook

16.POINTS / SCORING:

Points will be awarded as per the 2011 MSA Handbook.

18.RETIREMENT AND INCIDENT REPORT FORMS:

  • Should a competitor retire from the event, he/she is to immediately notify the nearest marshall/official of this fact, in writing.
  • Competitors who have retired from the event must proceed to Race Control as soon as possible, peel off and hand in their route check sticker and complete their Incident Report form.
  • Failure to notify the organisers in writing within one (1) hour of retirement from the event or failing to complete the Incident Report form will result in a fine being imposed on the competitor (SSR’s 352h).

19.PRIZE GIVING & AWARDS:

The prize giving, for all classes, will be at 18:00 or as soon as possible thereafter.

AWARDS: To be awarded to the overall competitors 1st to 5th in each class, giving the minimum number of entries.

Otherwise, 50% of the entries received

Any competitor not present at the prize giving will forfeit his award/s.

20.RIGHTS OF THE CLERK OF THE COURSE / PROMOTORS AND ORGANISERS:

The clerk of the course reserves the right to:-

  • Alter the departure times and route if force to do so through weather conditions, or for any other reasons.
  • Alter the starting and scoring methods if it is found necessary to do so.

The Promoters / Organisers reserve the right to:-

  • Postpone the meeting due to inclement weather or by Force Majeur as per the 2011 MSA Handbook.

In the event of postponement for more than 24 (twenty four) hours, entrants will be entitled to a refund of their entry fees.

Postpone, abandon or cancel the event if fewer than 50 (fifty) paid entries are received by the date and time of entries closing.

  • Refuse any entry.

21.PRACTICE:

No practice allowed.

22.GENERAL:

The organisers reserve the right to exclude any competitor contravening any stipulated rule, or acting in such a manner to bring the sport into disrepute. A rider will be disqualified and will be liable if found guilty of wilfully damaging farmer’s property or club equipment.

NO OPEN FIRES will be permitted in the CAMPING OR PIT AREA at all over the weekend for obvious reasons. PLEASE MAKE USE OF BRAAI AREA
