Day 1 - Thursday, August 2nd
Depart from DULLES or BWI International Airport in Washington, DC.
Day 2 - Friday, August 3rd
AKWAABA (Welcome)
Early morning arrival in Accra, Ghana and Transfer to a 4 star Hotel with a pool, internet access, etc…Welcomeand orientation to Ghana. Relax, unwind, exchange money, and go out for dinner and to hear a live jazz ensemble.
Day 3 - Saturday, August 4th
ACCRA CITY TOUR
See the .administrative and economic capital of Ghana. Visit the administrative and economic capital of Ghana. We will visit W.E.B. Dubois Center for Pan African Culture and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. See Black Star Square. Visit clothing and dressmakers; place your order to be delivered before our final departure. Visit a popular African night club to turn it up with our African sisters and brothers, your groove on African style.
Day 4 - Sunday, August 5th
CRUISE AKOSOMBO DAMN
Visit the Akosombo Damn, on the beautiful Volta Lake. It is one of the largest man- made lakes in the world. Cruise on the Dodi Princess, wine and dine while dancing to sweet sounds of highlife music played by a live band. Have dinner and overnight in Akosombo.
Day 5 - Monday, August 6th
AKWAMU TRADITIONAL VILLAGE IN AKOSOMBO
Visit an authentic traditional African town and village. Meet with the locals and sit with Royalty. Visit a genuine bead village and factory to purchase beads from a craftsperson. Have dinner and overnight Akosombo.
Day 6 - Tuesday, August 7th
KUMASI CITY TOUR
Travel to a Kumasi Hotel, then tour the Ashanti Kingdom. Visit The Famous and ancient Mahyia Palace and the Center for Ashanti National Culture. Visit the famous Ashanti Craft Villages: AHWAII, the wood carver’s village; NTONSO, the home of Adinkra and BONWIRE, the Kente weaving village. Have dinner and stay overnight in Kumasi. Day 7 - Wednesday, August 8th
ELMINA & CAPECOAST CASTLES
The Bus will travel to the coast to visit famous forts and castles in central Ghana. We will see the Cape Coast, historical museums and the infamous Elmina Castle. The group will check-in for a two-night stay at a peaceful beachside resort. Enjoy beach time, swimming, meals and drinks by the ocean. Overnight in Cape Coast beach resort.
Day 8 - Thursday, August 9th
KAKUM NATIONAL PARK in Cape Coast, Ghana
We will visit Kakum National Park; a tropical rain forest and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Walk on a hanging canopy 100 ft. above the forest floor; relax at the wonderful beachfront hotel and enjoy a traditional drumming and cultural display by local drummers and dancers. This will be a day of reflection, rest and relaxation on the stunningly beautiful beach. Enjoy traditional African food seaside. Then, overnight in Cape Coast beach resort.
Day 9 - Friday, August 10th
ACCRA
Return to Accra check into our local hotel. After relaxing finish the Ghana City Tour. Go out for the evening to a restaurant and a club.
Day 10 - Saturday, August 11th
ACCRA
Go to the Artist Alliance Gallery. Tour ends at the lively Arts and Crafts Center.. Pick clothes up from the seamstress. Party and feast with local Ghanaians and African Americans, who have made Ghana their home.
Day 11 - Sunday, August 12th
ACCRA
Relax for the day at a beach side resort, and then enjoy a farewell dinner feast ocean side. Pack and prepare for our late evening departure. Go to the airport and departure from Accra International Airport to DULLES International or BWI Airport. Arrive back in Washington, DC early Monday morning August 13th.
FINAL PAYMENT DUE: June 15, 2018
There is a non-refundable cancellation fee accessed after March 1, 2018 by the airlines of $250. If there is cancellation after registration, before March1 there is a $150 charge.
