You are expected to read books and professional journal articles on a wide variety of educational issues and encouraged to reread throughout the semester. It is strongly recommended that you supplement your required readings with additional books and current journal articles. As part of your required work for this course, you will be undertaking a research paper that will include reading several articles and books on a chosen teaching strategy (use ERIC, the Ed Index, and/or suggestions from class to locate). This will help to broaden your understanding of education theory and research as it relates to your practice.

REQUIRED CED 394 ASSIGNMENTS: The purpose of the following is to inform you about assignments that will be helpful to your growth. However, it is recognized that there is variability in individual skills, interests, and levels of productivity, and I therefore reserve the right to alter these assignments in mutually reasonable ways. All assignments must be computer processed, saved to a thumb/flash drive, and uploaded to the appropriate electronic portfolio by the due date (unless other direction is given). Late assignments will receive a grade deduction. Assignments that need to be redone will receive a grade deduction. Detailed assignments for this course will be posted on my website and on iWebfolio. The expectation is for “interaction to enhance your learning.” This means taking risks, learning by mistakes and demonstrating how you have increased your understanding of the instructional learning process. Naturally, I am aware that illness, family emergencies, etc. may make it impossible for you to attend a particular class. In the event that you find yourself in one of these extraordinary circumstances, please make sure that you inform me ASAP (by e-mail at ), and have someone take notes and gather class materials on your behalf.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: There is a one-dollar material fee that is due the second day of class. Please place this dollar in an envelope with your name on it. This money helps to partially pay for the cost of activities that you will participate in before you begin the Practicum portion of your assignment. Additionally, you will need a thumb/flash drive (and you are required to bring it to class every day) for coursework and your two required electronic portfolios--Part A (Course Assignments) and Part B (TWS).
