BIOLOGY – UNIT TWO, SAC FOUR
FIELD REPORT ON THE INTERTIDAL ZONE BIOTA OF BLAIRGOWRIE
Data collected on the field trip will be used to formulate a report on the rock pools of Blairgowrie. Data collected on the field trip should include:
- Information from nine quadrants (see quadrant table attached)
- Photos / diagrams / descriptions of the organisms living in each of the environments
- Notes collected on the varying environmental factors in each of the three zones studied
The Report should include all data collected on the field trip as well as the following information, arranged under suitable sub-headings:
- A field report outlining the distribution and density of both Flora and Fauna in each of the three zones
(use quadrates to calculate plant coverage and animal density, analyse these findings)
- A comparison of the different factors present in each of the three zones
- An outline and identification of the different flora and fauna that live in the different zones including explanations as to how they have suitably adapted to live in these areas
*You will have use of a laptop computer and will be provided with three 48 minute periods to complete the report
