Jugada a 3 bandas (Ja3b) is a Spanish initiative designed to connect art galleries + curators + artists. The third edition will take place again this spring: Madrid opens on Saturday, April 6. Barcelona opens on Friday, April 12.
The main novelty of 2013 is the simultaneous celebration of the event in Madrid and Barcelona. A total of thirty galleries will participate in Ja3b 2013, organizing exhibitions that always either create bridges and connections between the two cities or clearly bet on an international aperture.
Ja3b creates a framework for connecting the participating galleries to a more heterogeneous type of visitor, strengthens the collaboration of galleries with freelancing curators, promotes the collectorship and seeks a maximum quality in the proposed exhibitions, uniting the three participating parties in one sole project: galleries, curators and, of course, artists.
In this year´s edition, we will strengthen those activities that support the main goals of Ja3b: guided tours for professionals and general public, encounters for collectors, a public prize and participations in events like the IKT 2013 Congress, which will take place in Madrid during April.
Ja3b was conceived by the Spanish curator Virginia Torrente in 2011 who acted as a director during the first two editions. Ja3b is organized now by hablarenarte:, collaborating with Azotea (Ane Agirre and Juan Canela), who manages the project in Barcelona.
Further details about the next edition of Ja3b will be revealed during a public presentation at ARCOmadrid on Saturday, February 16, 6 p.m.
