Skip Miller Memorial 1600 Meter Race

The Lincoln Catholic Athletic League would like to recognize one of its long time volunteers, Mr. Rolland “Skip” Miller. Skip was an Athletic League volunteer for many different sports since the mid 1980’s. He began helping past league director, Jim Nichols with the Catholic School Track Meet in 1983 and also coached soccer, T-ball, and flag football. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church and served as a lector for many years.

Skip passed away on January 22, 2007 following a lengthy and courageous battle with diabetes. Skip is survived by his wife, Roxanne and sons, Ross and Patrick. Skip loved to watch kids compete and participate in all sports and at all ages. He was a constant presence at all his son’s activities and cheered not only his kids but all participants. All the kids knew and loved Skip.

In recognition of Skip, starting in 2008 the Lincoln Catholic Athletic League created the Skip Miller Memorial 1600 Meter Race. The 8th grade boy and girl champion will have their name, school, and time engraved on a plaque. This plaque will then be displayed at their school for the next year. We would like to remember Skip and his family, and all of our hard working volunteers; without them, the Catholic Athletic League would not be in existence.
