Minutes for Meeting Held on August 4th, 2016

  1. OPENING

Tim Lyons, Grand Knight, declared the meeting open on Thursday, August 4th, 2016 at 7:35 p.m. with an opening prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. The Warden vouched that all present held valid membership cards: 17 members were in attendance.

  1. OPENING ODE AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The Council then sang the Opening Ode. The minutes from the previous meeting of the Council were reviewed, and were approved unanimously.

  1. REPORT OF MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE New Members

No report, a few leads to be followed up on.

  1. GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT

Leadership had a budget meeting to try and reel in spending, conclusion of the meeting had the next annual budget running a small deficit, the goal over the course of the next year is to balance the budget and discover new fundraising opportunities for the council. Grand Knight Tim Lyons passed out a calendar for this year of events and asks knights to make the time to participate with events. Membership goal is already well on its way to being achieved.

  2. TREASURERS AND FINANCIAL SECRETARY’S REPORTS
  • No Treasurer Report.
  • Financial report

Income for month $1,662 | expenses out $1,485 |As far as goals go we will have 5 of 9 new members, still need 3 on insurance, current membership for #12021 stands at 130.

  1. AUDITORS AND TRUSTEES REPORT: Semiannual Audit was completed and submitted to supreme. No Report.
  2. CHANCELLOR’S REPORT

Glenn Angel: Council donated to the prison retreat to support 5 St. Paul members. Next retreat will be at a juvenile facility. Pray for that team going to meet with inmates. October is month of Rosary, following the 9:15 mass.

Bob Fisher: Still working on wine tasting location for council activity. Also, trying to organize a Knight’s Night out in September, probably sailing.

Bill Archer: Free throw competition is in January, looking to host district one here as well.

Pro Life: Hike for life 9/24. Set up 7Am 9AM start, signup sheet for next meeting. Forty days for life9/28-11/6, will not be 24 hours it will be from 6AM-6PM this year.

Special Olympics 8/26th and 27th in Rockwall, need as many Knights as possible.

Passbook sales are coming, to be sold after all masses. $30 a book.

  1. UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Parish festival will be in October. September 4th Spanish community is having a celebration.

  1. NEW BUSINESS

Bernie Gotway will have a member of the Saturday orchestra handle the microphones and sound system. Bernie asked the council to establish a music ministry support team. To help set up for the Sunday morning masses, Grand Knight suggests this request be addressed at a planning meeting.

Discussion over budget was had and the council voted to approve the budget on its first reading. Brother Mark Goedeckeurges council to accept budget as is, as to not lose sight of the charity aspect of the order.

Scout project by Paul Archer asking for support with his Eagle Scout project, $200 commitment.

Grand Knight wants the council to explore the idea of tamale sales to raise funding for the council.

The Grand Knight then closed the meeting with a Hail Mary prayer and the closing ode. The meeting then adjourned at 8:51 p.m.
