CLASS TITLE: BEHAVIORAL PROGRAM SPECIALIST - F/C - SES

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is professional work developing behavioral modification programs for developmentally disabled or emotionally disturbed clients. The employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class must spend a minimum of 75 percent of their time performing duties which involve contact with patients/inmates in a correctional or forensic facility or institution.

  • Consults with and guides other group members and parents in the evaluation of services to ensure that program objectives are met.
  • Inspects facilities and equipment and notifies the authorities of needed repairs.
  • Maintains inventories of supplies and equipment.
  • Monitors behavior modification programs and developmental activities.
  • Uses treatment techniques appropriate to the needs of various levels of developmentally disabled or emotionally disturbed clients and their parents.
  • Assists in coordinating activities with comprehensive institution-wide or community-based programs.
  • Instructs parents in the use of behavioral modification techniques.
  • Teaches parents about normal development and developmental disabilities and how they affect development.
  • Designs treatment plans for parents to implement.
  • Performs on-going developmental/behavioral assessments of clients.
  • Performs related work as required.
