General Objectives

The purpose of this component is to provide an opportunity to acquire an elementary understanding of the Windows operating system (OS). Upon successful completion of this component, participants will have knowledge of the Windows user interface.

Specific Objectives

Upon completion of this component, participants will:

1. Be able to follow proper procedures for start up and shut down of the Windows OS.

2. Be able to tailor the user interface to meet the individual need and preference.

3. Be able to locate and open files and programs.

4. Understand useful features of the Windows OS, such as: the Taskbar, the Start menu, My Computer, Find, Help, Printers, and Control Panels.

5. Be able to organize and manage files through various methods such as folder creation, drag and drop procedures, copy and paste procedures, and the use of Windows Explorer.

Description of Activities

Instructional delivery will consist of lecture, discussion, and demonstration. Participants will complete hands-on activities designed to meet the objectives of this component. Appropriate instructional materials will be available for the participants to use as resources and study guides. Qualified consultant(s) will develop the course outline based on the specific objectives stated above.

Evaluation of Participants

Evaluation of the specific objectives will be determined by the activity leader or designee through analysis of student performance data affected by training activities, portfolios maintained by the training participant, documented observation by administrators, rubrics developed for special area curriculum, teacher-provided test results/grade books, or curriculum alignment data.

Evaluation of Activity

An online evaluation for this activity will be conducted through the Santa Rosa Professional Growth System.
