Estenda Solutions, Inc. celebrates its 11th anniversary
Conshohocken, PA–Estenda Solutions, Inc. is celebrating its 11thanniversary as a custom healthcare software development firm. CEO and President Drew Lewis and CIO/COO Richard ‘RJ’ Kedziora founded the company in 2003 with the desire to improve patient outcomes throughthe innovative use of software. Under their leadership, Estenda has exceeded expectations, producing a long list of cutting-edge, successful projects in tele-ophthalmology, hepatitis screening, diabetes management/education, patient home monitoring, population health, chronic kidney disease reporting, bariatric surgery, respiratory devices, personal health records and patient portals.
In the early 2000s, Estenda launched its firstproduct - Comprehensive Disease Management Program (CDMP) – a SaaS solution designed to facilitate patient care and management for diabetes patients and, eventually, other chronic diseases, such as kidney and liver. In the years following, a patient portal, population level reporting, and customizable encounter support features were added to the software. Estenda also participated in Robert Wood Johnson’s Project HealthDesign in 2006-2008 where it helped identify what are called,“observations of daily living,” that allow patients to contribute meaningful information about how they live their lives, to clinicians. In 2010, CDMP successfully received the Authority to Operate(ATO) under the Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP), which ensures that principles of strong security and risk management are applied to information systems.
In 2012, Estenda released Global Retinal Imager (GRI), a modular and standards based system for the acquisition, display, interpretation, reporting, and monitoring of ophthalmic images and other health care data. The software was designed for technician-led retinal imaging in both full-service, specialty centers and extremely remote micro clinics throughout the world. GRI won 2nd place in the Health 2.0 Ocular Imaging Challenge.
This past year, Estenda won honorable mention in the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Patient-Researcher Matching Challenge – a competition to create a system that connects healthcare researchers and patient partners. The company also achieved ISO 9001/13485 certification, affirming that its Quality Management System provides a solid foundation for clients’ healthcare software and medical device development initiatives.
Estenda continues to advance CDMP capabilities, which it uses as a framework for jump starting new projects and assisting growing organizations with their custom healthcare IT needs. Estenda is also focusing on providing Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) solutions to help address the growing challenges in care delivery and population management.
