CALL FOR VIDEO SUBMISSIONS
2017World Dance Alliance: Digital Dance Concert
Submission Deadline:January 15, 2017
The World Dance Alliance announces a call for dance-for-camera works for the third annual WDA Digital Dance Concert, a double-blind reviewed online presentation of videoed choreographies and dance films created specifically for the camera. The Digital Dance Concert aims to offer a virtual platform for choreographers, companies, and dance filmmakers to present, promote, and disseminate their work.
Selected dance-for-camera works will be featured online through a digital dance concert format on the WDA-A website. Select works will also be presented at the 2017 World Dance Alliance Global Summit at the Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada – July 23-28, 2017.
All dance genres are welcome and pieces must not be more than 7minutes in length.
Each submission is reviewed by governing members of the WDA and/or qualified professionals in the field of dance. Submissions will be evaluated based on demonstrated use of the camera that highlights the dance differently from live performance, such that the dance cannot be viewed in the same way outside of the film. Selected works will also demonstrate inventiveness and originality, cohesiveness and clarity of artistic intention, quality of choreography, performance, cinematography, and editing in relationship to the stated artistic intent.
As this year is our Global Summit, the DigitalDance Concert is open to dance artists based in any country.Artists may submit work for consideration by completing and emailing the submission information to Melissa Sanderson at . There is a maximum of two submissions per applicant.
Selected artists will have their conference registration fee waved.
