Rimini, 20 November 2007 – Loading the future.The key claim of the SIB 2008 advertising campaign invitesreaders to enter and let themselves betransported to new worlds, built to hit the senses, surprise and excite.A concept that from April 5th to 8th will be fully realized at Rimini Fiera with the proposals of the 21st International Exhibition of Show Business, Installation & Broadcast Technology.As is the well-proven tradition, alongside the expo sectors, the Rimini show will feature moments of in-depth coverage and study, ensuring trade visitors information, training and services.A valuable compass for finding one’s way through the rapidly evolving sectors of electronic technology.
The new features to be found at SIB 2008 will include, in the context of the sector dedicated to installation and system integration, SIB FORUM.The this event’s seminar format for show business, installation and system integration professionals, the first edition of which was held in October at Rimini Fiera, met with unanimous positive feedback for the level of information provided for trade members in attendance.At SIB 2008, trade members will be able to find out in advance the contents of the next edition of SIB FORUM, being held at Rimini Fiera next autumn.And, above all,they will be able to take part in seminars staged from April 5th to 8th by SIB FORUM on installation and system integration issues.Participation in the seminars will be free and open to all SIB 2008 visitors.
In the context of the Broadcast section, there will also be a series of events with industry experts, open to all trade members in this important market sector, in which Italy has always been a key player at international level.
In the Lighting & Theatre area, which will also host the most important theatre academies and key cultural institutions in an international scenographic arts context, a program of specific seminars is being prepared for professionals in the theatre and cinema sector.
NEW FRONTIERS IN CONTEMPORARY SCENOGRAPHY:THE DIGITAL AGE
In fact, the series of meetings with key players in the theatre and cinema scenography world, promoted by The Scenographer, the first magazine on scenographic culture with worldwide circulation and SCSA International Study Centre for Scenic Arts, in partnership with SIB, is increasingly a must for trade members.
After Milan, with Pier Luigi Pizzi and Asakura Setsu, on 27th November the master class will move toVenice, in the Santa Margherita Auditorium, withan eagerly awaited event hosted by Oscar Peter Lamont, three times candidate for the awardand winner of the precious statuettein 1998 for the scenography forTitanicdirected by James Cameron, and recently production designer on the set of the latest James Bond movie,007 Casino Royale.The meeting with Peter Lamont, realized in collaboration with Ca' Foscari University, Venice and Mestre Cinema Circuit, Venice Municipality and the British Film Design Guild, and with the sponsorship of the Veneto Region Film Commission, will be able to be followed live (thanks to the participation of the Web site beniculturalionline.it) on the site on the occasion of the debut of the first web TV dedicated to scenography, with a play-list of transmissions divided between cinema, theatre, television and entertainment.The event will also be the opportunity for a workshop on the progress of contemporary scenography - with the participation of professionals of the calibre of Gianluca Dentici,Michael Geissler, Mike Tucker, Paolo Miccichè, Gabriele Cipollitti, Alessandro Amaducci and Ottavio Rosati -which will launch the SIB 2008 days in Rimini.
In fact, after another event in Venice at the beginning of next year, the series of meetings will reach Rimini Fiera’s SIB on April 6th and 7th for the International Study Conference New frontiers in contemporary scenography:THE DIGITAL AGETwo days of discussions, master classes, live events, projections, shows, performances and installations:an unprecedented event for Italy and Europe, for which Rimini Fiera will host some of the most influential personalities in the field of technological innovation applied to cinema and theatre.Two days of discussions with top experts on the most recent developments in 3D modelling software and the most advancedcomputer-aided special filming/recording systems.Plus, the role of creature designer and scale models and increasingly widespread use of computer graphics instead of animatronics, from digital stunt-men to 3D key characters.
Among the outstanding names invited to speak in Rimini, Alex McDowell (production designer ofSpielberg’sMinority Report, theacid-tinged scenesofFearand Loathing in Las Vegasby Terry Gilliam and thedark townscapesof the first two episodes of The Crow), Patrick Tatopoulos (production andcreature designer forGodzilla, Stargate, Independence Day, I Robot, Dark City, Underworldand the upcomingI am Legendwith Will Smith), visual effects supervisor Todd Vaziri, Tino Schaedler (art director for the digital sets ofTim Burton’sChocolate Factory, V for Vendetta, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenixand the upcomingGolden Compass) Jesse Brink (Director of business development for Proof, Inc.) and special effects supervisors Michael Geissler, Ron Martinand Gianluca Dentici.Plus visual effects supervisor Fabio Bonvicini, miniature effects supervisor Mike Tucker, visual effects supervisor & supervisor and director of miniature effects of digital giant Cinesite, José Granell and JohnathanR.Banta, visual effect supervisor with Boss Film Studio.The detailed program is being finalized and confirmation is expected soon for the participation in Rimini of other important European and American cinema names.
SOUND POWER 2008:THE SELECTION OF THE MAGNIFICENT SIX HAS BEGUN
At SIB 2008 there will be no lack of demo areas, a key feature of Rimini’s International Exhibition, at trade visitors’ disposal to test the performance of new product lines in the expo showcase.The selections have begun for participation in Sound Power 2008, the only international opportunity for pro audio trade members to see on show and hear the most advanced innovative sound reinforcement systems currently on the market actually in action under outdoor working conditions.Six high-powered systems will be admitted to Sound Power, featuring an impressive use of digital electronics applied to the latest results of research in the electro-acoustic field. It should be remembered that part of the test will be dedicated to a piece of music created specially for Sound Power and realized using the sessions of a project developed in collaboration with specialist record label Sunlightsquare Records ( whereas the choice of pieces played back from a CD for the remaining five minutes’ performance will be left to individual manufacturers for the demonstration of the characteristics of their systemsSound Power 2008 performances, programmed by the event’s coordinator, Toni Soddu, will begin at 12 noon and end at 6 pm every day at SIB.The 4th Sound Power is organized by Rimini Fiera SpA.
