Job title:Counselling Coordinator
Responsible to:Head of Services
Responsible for:Counselling service staff
Hours:5 days per week, 9am to 5pm
Salary:£23,000 - £27,500 depending on experience
Contract:2 years (extension subject to further funding)

Purpose of the job
Working with the Head of Services to develop and manage a high quality national counselling service consistent with legal and regulatory requirements, best practice and ethical frameworks to those affected by multiple sclerosis (MS) across the United Kingdom. .
Main responsibilities
Establish and manage theinitial four month pilot of telephone counselling
Establish, implement and review policies and procedures, and best practice in line with relevant BACP guidelines
Assist in the recruitment and training of counsellors
Commitment to developing a user-led service
Work with the MS-UK Helpline team to develop a MS awareness training package for counsellors
Undertake referral assessments
Deliver telephone counselling and person-centred counselling
Maintain accurate records
Develop counselling provision to incorporate face to face deliveryin phase two
Provide day to day management and coordination of the service
Develop quality assurance, outcome measurement and feedback tools in order to measure the success of service
Line manage counselling staff including, recruitment, supervision, appraisal, performance and development
Work with the Marketing Manager to promote the counselling service
Network with other counselling services both locally and nationally
Key Skills and Experience
Qualified counsellor, preferably with prior knowledge of MS, disability or a health/social care background
Registration with the BACP
Experience of delivering person-centred and telephone counselling
Proven ability of coordinating and developing person-centred services
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Computer literate with good database skills
Ability to prioritise work and to establish work plans in accordance with the service aims and objectives and support staff members to work to those plans
Knowledge and understanding of professional body regulations and ability to interpret correctly
An understanding of confidentiality, Safeguarding and Equality and Diversity
Experience of measuring outcomes and gathering feedback to inform service development
Experience of working within a quality assurance framework
Experience of line managing staff and providing professional supervision
Other
It is a requirement of the position to remain flexible within your role and to operate across other roles as business needs require for example, to provide cover when other members of the team are unavailable.
A willingness to be involved in the wider work undertaken by MS-UK is required.
You will be expected to attend fundraising and marketing events as and when required. This will involve occasional weekend or evening work.

The role is based at our office in Colchester, Essex and the successful candidate will be required to start as soon as possible.
