Introduction to Naviance

Welcome to Naviance!

Naviance is a web-based service used to help students through their high school four-year plan, career exploration and the college admission process. It will help you with:

  • Career Research and Personality Inventories
  • Goal Setting
  • Academic Organization
  • Course Planning
  • Scholarships for College
  • College Research
  • Organizing and submitting college application materials

To get to your Naviance Family Connection Page please follow the steps below:

STEP 1: Go to the Website naviance.com on your laptop

STEP 2: Look at the upper right of the page and click on sign in. Sign in under the Students & Family Login

STEP 3: Enter our zip code 98042 and then click on Kentwood

STEP 4: Put in your user name & password

STEP 5:You should now be in the Family Connection page.

Naviance Log-In Information

Username = Your STUDENT # with the prefix sn

PASSWORD =Date of Birth (the two digit month, two digit day, & four digit year)

Congratulations! Now that you are successfully logged in, you’re ready to explore.

The following activates will help you familiarize yourself with Naviance:

Part 1: Scavenger Hunt

  1. What is Kentwood’sschool address? And, what tab did you find it under?
  1. What is your counselor’s name? What tab is that listed under?
  1. Which tab allows you to look up courses and enter notes regarding your course plan at Kentwood?
  1. Where can you begin to create a resume?
  1. Which tab allows you to create a “To Do” list?
  1. What section do you find out if you have a TASK assigned to you?
  1. What TASK do you have assigned to you currently?
  1. Find the tab where you can create GOALS for yourself. Which tab is this located in?

Add a NEW Goal for yourself today. Select “Other Goals” from the drop down box and answer the following questions in your profile and below.

Click Add it to your Naviance profile.

  1. Under which tab can you find information on Scholarships?
  1. What is the next College Visit that is happening at Kentwood?
  1. Name 3 ways you can look up information on Colleges and where you would find that information?

Part 2: Personality Assessment – Career Interest Profiler?

  1. Go to the ABOUT ME tab.
  2. Under My Assessments click on Career Interest Profiler
  3. Read the directions about the assessment, and click on Start Assessment (180 questions).
  4. Complete the assessment. When you are finished, you will be given your results. Your results will describe:
  • The careers you may be interested in
  • You can explore what academics are needed for your career of choice
  • You can see how much money your chosen career will pay depending on what part of the country you are in.

Part 3: Summary

Please write a brief summary of what you learned today and what you found most interesting. Think about whether or not the career that you choose to research is a real possibility for your future and why?
