Marking Period #2
Newberry Award Winning Book Project
“And the Award Goes to…”
After reading your readers workshop novel, create a new book award in honor of the book you read. This should be an award that you can hand to someone and present. This award should highlight the best parts of the book and demonstrate your knowledge of the book.
For Example: Maybe you’ll create the Hercules Award in honor of a book whose main character exudes strength of character. Maybe you’ll create the Make It Real Award in honor of a book that draws you in and makes you feel as though you could be living in that era in history.
You might want to check out several of these websites to look at different awards that are already out there:
-American Library Association: Newbery Medal
-Young Readers Choice Award
Award is Given every Year to Books: use these for reference
