Just got your new Windows 7 computer and discovered there is no email software? Don't panic! Choices are available - some are absolutely free! In this how to send email lecture, instead of using the old reliables that came with earlier Windows operating systems, we will be looking at Mozilla's Thunderbird (from the same folks who brought you the Firefox web browser) & Windows Live Mail (part of the Windows Live Essentials package). 1 pm: Convert your Records and Tapes to Music CDs or DVDs(North Room)
In this class you will be introduced to a free program called Audacity. See how to connect your player to the PC. When you have transferred the music of your records or tapes to your computer, you can get rid of all audible kicks and scratches with a few key clicks of your mouse. 10 am: Open Office (North Room)
Open Office is a open source software. That means it is free for you to download and use. You are also encouraged, if you are a programmer to help improve on the product. Many do and that's why there are so many versions available - as well as extensions to expand its capabilities. Open Office is a suite of several programs, 3 of them act and feel just like Microsoft's Office 03: Word, Excel and PowerPoint. At the Club we teach as needed classes in all of these 3 programs. We teach OpenOffice programs as aadd-on component to our MS Office 2003 classes (Word, Excel and Powerpoint). Instructor: Joann Frucchione
