Kerrie NYSFAAA’s discussed advocacy efforts:
EASFAA is continuing its advocacy initiative to Save the Perkins Loan program.
The American Council on Education is advocating for a 1 year extension of Perkins.
New York FAO’s want the use of PPY for TAP/ state award evaluations
NYSFAAA is in the process of drafting a letter to NYSED regarding State statute of high school diploma and high school equivalency
NYSFAAA membership is on target with the budget this year.

Congratulations to Perry Brown, Treasurer, on his Thomas Monahan Service Award
Region 5 New Year’s Party will be held in January, 2016. The meeting will be held at The Culinary Institute at the Ristorante Caterina de’ Medici. A motion was made to subsidize the lunch was made by Perry Brown, seconded by Roberta Daskin. Region V members will pay only $20 for a delicious four course meal!!
Please check out the College Goal Sunday schedule and volunteer. The schedule is located on this website The Yonkers event is on 1/31. Perry Brown welcomes all to this site.
The February State Wide Training is on February 26, 2016. The training, featuring Jim Briggs, will be held at Berkeley College, White Plains. A brief Region V meeting will follow.
The Region is looking forward to having a “Welcome Spring” meeting. We are looking for your input on a topic and speaker. The topics that were discussed include motivation, mentoring compliance and FAO shop talk.
The Executive Council has asked the Region to have a representative on each committee. Would you review the attached list and offer your talent to NYSFAAA?
The Region would also like to have a summer outing in June. Again, suggestions are welcomed.
