The Southeast Georgia Chapter of ONS Sixth Annual CEU Day seminar,

"Updates in Hematologic Malignancies 2010"

was presented onSaturday, October 23, 2010, at the DoubletreeHotel Historic Savannah. Local speakers included: Deborah Fleming (Lewis Cancer Pavilion), Dr. Lewis (Summit Cancer Care), Jennifer Currin-McCulloch(Anderson Cancer Institute), and Dr. Aaron Pederson (Anderson Cancer Institute),

Continuing education was awarded to RNs and ASRTs who attended.

Those in attendance included SEGA members and nurses from Marietta, Woodstock, and Austen (Georgia), Lexington (South Carolina) and an RT(T) from the ACI.

Congratulations to Beverly Youmans and the committee members (Patricia Aiken, Claudine Coe, Deborah Kemp, Laurel McKeith, Carla Michelle Meyers, Lisa New, Vivian Palefsky, and Elizabeth White) who worked all year to plan, coordinate and conduct this successful event.

Fundamentals of Blood and Marrow Transplant Course

The Fundamentals of Blood and Marrow Transplant Course provides the most up-to-date, evidence-based knowledge, including resources to prepare BMT programs and advanced concepts and future directions of BMT. The course, worth 19 contact hours, is self-paced and designed in a self-study format for your convenience. Please register by November 12 for the November 18 course. Effective Symptom Management

The Symptom Management Course explores the pathophysiology of symptoms associated with cancer treatments, integrates evidence-based management strategies, and much more. Enroll by November 10 for the November 17 course, and learn what you need to know! This course is supported, in part, by an educational grant from Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and sanofi-aventis.

Breast Cancer Course

The popular ONS Breast Cancer Courseis interactive and provides you with evidence-basedknowledge, including diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer and the psychosocial and genetic aspects of caring forpatients with breast cancer. Receive 20 continuing nursing education credits after successfully completing the program. The registration deadline is November 23 for the December 7 class.

Integrating Psychosocial Care Into Oncology Practiceaddresses the needs of patients and families, aspects of nursing practice related to psychosocial care, barriers and problems encountered in the provision of care, nursing educational needs, and recommendations for future research in psychosocial care. Register by November 23 for the November 30 course.

Head and Neck Cancers Course
