Appendix 1. Descriptions of the collection sites

Site Group 1.Access road to El Sabanal Field Station at 46–126m of elevation above sea level (mamsl). Within the Huatulco National Park located 5.5km from the intersection San Pedro Pochutla—Salina Cruz highway (highway 200)andSanta Cruz Huatulco highway (RI). Several sites were sampled along this 5-km road with well preserved vegetation:

Site 1.1.15°46′38″N, 96°12′2.01″O; 50 mamsl. The light trap (#4) is located at 1.5km from the Station facilities.

Site 1.2.15°46′20″N, 96°11′52.01″O; 121 mamsl. The light trap (#2) is located 0.7km NW from the Station facilities.

Site 1.3.15°46′10.7″N, 96°11′39.4″O; 109 mamsl. The light trap (#1) is located next to the Station facilities.

Site 1.4.15°46′0.01″N, 96°11′30.9″O; 107 mamsl.The light trap (#5) is located 0.4km SE from the Station facilities.

Site Group 2. The road to El Palmar or La Palma was used as a collection transect (5.2km long)andit begin just in the RI. This trail has a northwest directionandruns parallel to the stream El Arenal or El Arenoso. Neighboring hills are covered by TDF, but on sides of the stream; the vegetation composition changes to larger trees, typical of more humid conditions. Diurnal collections took place at the following sites:

Site.2.2. El Carnero (15°48′21.4″N, 96°10′04.0″O; 90 mamsl). This site is located 3.7km NW from the referred road intersection (RI).

Site 2.2.El Palmar or La Palma (15°48′58.6″N, 96° 10′33.2″O, 107 mamsl). This site is located 5.2km NW from that intersection.

A third sampling approach used consisted of placing Malaise traps along the road described above. The distances of these sites from the RI are as follows:

Site 2.3.Malaise trap #1, El Carnero; 15°48′21.4″N, 96° 10′04.0″W; 90 mamsl;3.7km NW.

Site 2.4.Malaise trap #6; 15°48′27″N, 96°10′05.9″W; 165 mamsl; 4km NW.

Site 2.5.Malaise trap#2; 15°48′33.0″N, 96°10′10.99″W, 204 mamsl; 4.1km NW.

Site 2.6.Malaise trap #5; 15°48′40″N, 96°10′18.01″W; 187 mamsl; 4km NW.

Site 2.7.Malaise trap #3; 15° 48′ 43″ N, 96° 10′ 18.98″ W; 194 mamsl; 4.6km NW.

Site 2.8.Malaise trap#4; 15°48′54″N, 96°10′27.98″W; 179 mamsl; 5.1km NW.

Site 3.Arroyo Xuchilt; 15°46′46.1″N, 96°12′31.1″O; 80 mamsl; 6.7km south-west from RI. Diurnal collections were conducted in this site, as well as light trap #3.

Site 4. Arroyo Copalita; 15°50′58.8″N, 96°06′41.1″W; 110 mamsl; 9km south-west from the RI. In this site, diurnal collections were conducted along the river sides.

Site 5. Puente Río Coyula; 15°44′58.4″N, 96°17′52.8″W; 19 mamsl;18.2km SW from RI. Diurnal collections were also conducted along the river sides in this site.

Appendix 2. List of the species of Cerambycidae recorded in the region of Huatulco, Oaxaca, México. An asterisk indicates that the species was recorded for the first time for Oaxaca.
