The Scottish Junior Dog Club ‘Junior of the Year’ 2009
Aberdeen Canine Training Society has very kindly agreed to hold the Scottish Junior Dog Club’s ‘Junior of the Year’ competition.
This competition will be held at lunch break on Saturday. The juniors competing in this final qualified after being placed in the top5 at one of our4 qualifiers held throughout the year.
These qualifiers were open to juniors aged 18 and under (at the time). The winner will be crowned, the Scottish Junior Dog Clubs “Junior of the Year 2009”.
Prizes: Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Rosettes for all competitors.
The Scottish Junior Dog Club welcomes the agility community to come to watch this event and cheer on our juniors in order to provide support and encouragement.
The purpose of the Scottish Junior Dog Club is to encourage and promote canine welfare and sportsmanship in dog training. Furthermore, to celebrate our nationality, bring together juniors alike in friendship and team spirit.

ELIGIBILITY AND SCHEDULE OF CLASSES
STANDARD CLASSES
Only first prizes and points gained in standard classes at Kennel Club licensedAgility Shows may be used for progression through the classes. (A dog is onlyeligible for one grade). In defining the eligibility of the owner or handler for Grade 1, the three jumping wins and points progression referred to in thedefinition apply only to one dog and not an accumulation of dogs.
Grade 1 (Elementary) : For owners, handlers or dogs which have not gained a first place in an Agility Class orthree first places in Jumping Classes at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows. N.B.Owners, handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 1, (Elementary) are noteligible for this class.
Grade 2 (Starters) : Open to dogs which are not eligible for Grades 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and have not gaineda first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 2 atKennel Club licensed Agility Shows, or elected to progress on points from Grade 1.N.B. Owners, handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 2 (Starters) are noteligible for this class.
Grade 3 (Graduate) : Open to dogs which are not eligible for Grade 1 or 2 or have elected to progress onpoints from Grade 2 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and dogs which are noteligible for Grade 4, 5, 6 or 7.
Grade 4 (Novice) : Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first placesin Jumping Classes at Grade 3 or elected to progress on points from Grade 3 atKennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grade 3, 5, 6 or 7.
Grade 5 (Intermediate): Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first placesin Jumping Classes at Grade 4 or elected to progress on points from Grade 4 atKennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grade 3, 4, 6 or 7.
Grade 6 (Senior) : Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first placesin Jumping Classes at Grade 5 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are noteligible for Grade 3, 4, 5 or 7.
Grade 7 (Advanced): :Open to dogs which have gained a minimum of 4 first places at Grade 6 at KennelClub Licensed Agility Shows, 2 first places must be gained in Agility (not Jumping)
Special Junior For handlers 18 years and under who may enter family dogs and one guest dog.
SMALLFor dogs measuring 350mm height or under at the withers.
MEDIUMFor dogs measuring over 350mm and measuring 430mm height or under at the withers.
LARGEFor dogs measuring over 430mm at the withers.
MEASURING In accordance with Kennel Club rules, Large dogs which have not competed before 1 January 2006 and
OF DOGSALL Small and Medium dogs must have been officially measured before competing at a Kennel Club licensed agility show. Record books or proof of measurement must be available on request. Dogs can only enter the class for which they are eligible i.e. Small, Medium or Large.
Dogs eligible to compete in competitions for Small dogs are those measuring 350mm or under at the withers.
Dogs eligible to compete in competitions for Medium dogs are those measuring over 350m and 430mm or
under at the withers.
Dogs eligible to compete in competitions for Large dogs are those measuring over 430mm at the withers.
Our Venue:
Toilets and water facilities are provided on site. Unfortunately we do not have a chemical toilet disposal point. Wheelie bins are provided for rubbish disposal.
A hot food van will be on site both days.
We are very lucky to have the use of this venue and the City Council have requested that we keep our venue tidy, and have expressly forbidden the use of barbeques in the park.
The council have also asked us to point out the local bye law that prohibits the consumption of alcohol in public parks. Fortunately this does not apply inside tents and caravans!

For those of you using Satnav the nearest post code is for the sports field just round the corner from the park, but you will reach the park entrance before you come to the Keith Park pavilion. AB24 1XR The satnav will probably direct you via the city centre.
From the South:
Coming into Aberdeen on the A90 from Dundee , at Garthdee Roundabout (beside Asda), take the 2nd exit onto
A90/S Anderson Drive
Go through 4 roundabouts
At the big roundabout with the sponsored by Acergy Sign, take the 3rd exit onto Cairncry Rd, following the signs for the University/Old Aberdeen (Murdo’s Bar will be on the right)
At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto A978/Hilton St, keep following the signs for the University/Old Aberdeen
Continue to follow A978, Go through 2 roundabouts, the first is sponsored by the Beach Ball Room, the second is at the School Playing fields / university buildings
At the third roundabout with the Spar grocer on your left, take the 1st exit onto A956/King St

Turn left at the lights into Don St, Turn right to stay on Don St, Take first left into SeatonPark.
From the North:

FIRE PRECAUTIONS FOR CARAVANS AND TENTS
A fire bucket must be situated at all units. Fire extinguishers will be sited around the camping area. Please note their positions in case of an emergency.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Dogs entered at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows must be registered at the Kennel Club in accordance with Kennel Club Regulations for Classification and Registration B. The registration number/Authority to Compete number will be required for each entry.
2. Amount of entry and other fees.
3 No prize money is awarded at this show.
4. The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries.
5. Puppies under 18 calendar months of age on the first day of the Show are not eligible to compete for Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows.
6 . Not For Competition entries will be accepted for dogs aged four calendar months and over. Dogs must be Kennel Club registered with their details recorded on the entry form.
7. No bitch in season is allowed to compete.
8. No person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling of a dog at any time within the boundaries of the Show.
9. Dogs must not wear any type of slip, half-slip collar or lead when under test. A flat, close fitting, leather or webbing collar is permitted, providing the only attachment is a plain identification panel as an integral part of the collar ie. not attached by a ring.
10. Should a judge be unable to fulfil the appointment to judge the Committee reserves the right to appoint another judge.
11. No competitor shall impugn the decision of the judge or judges.
12. There is no sponsorship at this show.
13. Kennel Club Standard marking Regulations apply.
14. The Height limit for dogs:-
a. Large Dogs - For dogs measuring over 430mm (1ft 5ins) at the withers.
b. Medium Dogs - For dogs measuring over 350mm (1ft 1.75ins) and measuring 430mm (1ft 5ins) or under at the withers. (c. Small Dogs - For dogs measuring 350mm (1ft 1.75ins) or under at the withers)
15. Judges at an Agility Show may not enter for competition a dog which is recorded in their ownership or part ownership; or handle a dog at the Show at which they are judging.
16. Withdrawal of dogs from Competition
A dog shall be withdrawn from competition and removed from an Agility Show if it is:-
a. A bitch which is in season.
b. Suffering from any infectious diseases or contagious disease.
c. Interfering with the safety or chance of winning of an opponent.
d. Of such temperament or is so much out of hand as to be a danger to thesafety of any person or other animal.
e. Likely to cause suffering to the dog if it continues competing.
17. In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including 25 days before the start f the competition shall be counted when entering for any class. For these purposes a competition shall be defined as all classes covered within the same schedule. In the event that a dog becomes eligible for the next grade at a particular show, after the entry for that show has been sent, it is the competitor’s responsibility to notify the show secretary at least 14 days before thedate of the show. The dog should then be moved into the appropriate class(es) for the next grade. The dog must be moved into the corresponding number of classes as were entered at the lower grade. If there are fewer or no classes available for the next grade the competitorshould be offered a refund of the relevant entry fees.
18. Should circumstances so dictate the Society, in consultation with the Judges may alter arrangements as necessary. Such changes and the circumstances surrounding them must be reported to the Kennel Club.
19. A statement that a dog must at the time of entry for the Competition be registered as required by the Kennel Club Rules & Regulations in the Competitors' name (or registration or transfer applied for). In the case of a partnership the full name of every partner must be given. In the case of dogs recorded as owned by a limited company, the directors and the secretary of the limited company will jointly be considered for the purpose of the Regulations. A dog acquired subsequent to entry having been made at a Competition may compete as the new owners' property provided that an application for the transfer has been forwarded to the Kennel Club before the Competition, and the new owner has undertaken to abide by the Regulations and conditions of the original entry form.
20. Animals in Event
No animal other than one officially entered shall be brought into the precinctsof the event during its continuance, except any dogs registered to assist thedisabled, or dogs required for educational or instructional purposes or bypermission of the General Committee. However, at the discretion of the show society, a dog brought to the show by a spectator may be admitted into the precincts of the dog show, with the proviso that those in charge of the dog sign a declaration confirming the dog is free from disease and that the dog will be kept under proper control at all times.
21. All dogs registered and resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without a Kennel Club Registration number or an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.
22. Competition of Dogs Suffering from Contagious or Infectious Disease – No dogs suffering from infectious or contagious disease or having been exposed to such disease during the period of 21 days prior to the Competition may compete. Competitors infringing the Regulation will be liable to be fined and/or dealt with under Kennel Club Rule A42.
23. Food shall not be carried in the hand or given to a dog in the ring.
24. Separate entry forms must be completed by each Competitor and must be signed by the Competitor or his authorised agent in accordance with the provisions specified thereon. Entry forms must be accompanied with the appropriate fees.
Welfare of Dogs
18 DOGS IN CARS ON HOT DAYS
Your dog is vulnerable and AT RISK if left in a vehicle in high temperatures and even on days considered as slightly warm. Please take care of your dog.If your dog is found to be at risk forcible entry to your vehicle may be necessary without liability for any damage caused.
19. Welfare of Dogs
An exhibitor (or competitor) whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not knowingly put their dogs’ health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. A breach of this Regulation may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.
