Post Title: / Behaviour Support Leader –support for ASD/ADHD
Purpose: / · To ensure all students make progress by identifying individuals with behavior needs and providing appropriate support and strategies to improve student attitudes towards learning and maintaining an ordered atmosphere in the school
· To lead the pastoral support team in supporting the students engagement and conduct within the school community. Guiding and supporting the team to implement innovative strategies and interventions to enable students to make appropriate behavior choices
· To implement strategies and interventions to ensure students with complex behavior needs (ASD/ADHD) are supported within the school community and learning environment
Reporting to: / Assistant Headteacher - Inclusion
Key Success Indicators: / · Identification of students’ with behaviour needs and interventions implemented
· Case studies showing interventions, support and success of these interventions
· Termly reports show impact of interventions
- reduction of C4’s
- progress in levels of attendance and punctuality for
- identified students
· Lesson observations and subject reviews show how effective need specific interventions are during lessons
· Evidence of impact and development of Pastoral team recorded in fortnightly meetings
· Success indicators shared with Inclusion team on a termly basis
· Evidence in the form of a portfolio that demonstrates non qualitative evidence within role

Main (Core) Duties
Support individuals behavior for learning needs / · Shadow students on entry to Year 7 to identify needs
· Become familiar with prior data and needs for identified students with behavior needs including a focus group who have ASD/ADHD needs
· Establish a supportive relationship with the students concerned
· Motivate and encourage the students by recognising achievement
· Keep accurate & concise records of support and progress
· Ensure parents have up to date information
· Liaise with learning coaches and provide information on strategies, interventions and support
· Ensure identified students have a nominated key worker from the pastoral team
· Help maintain an atmosphere in which students with complex behavior needs can develop self- confidence and are able to maximise their potential
· To work with the unit to devise and lead appropriate support programmes for students with complex behavior needs, focusing on ADHD/ASD
· To attend return from exclusion meetings to support students reintegration through the unit and back into the curriculum as part of the Inclusion team
· Work in liaison with the unit to integrate students successfully after exclusion as required
Contribute to learning through support for students and staff / · Support class teachers to plan and prepare for role within classroom by liaising with staff regarding appropriate strategies for students with complex behavior needs (focus on ASD/ADHD)
· To liaise with staff regarding students with ASD/ADHD regarding appropriate support strategies
· Support students with behavior support plans to enable them to be successful in the classroom
· Help the students to learn as effectively as possible in class, small groups and individually using some of the following methods:
a) Questioning the students to check understanding of the teacher’s instructions
b) Checking that the students are able to use the equipment and materials provided
c) Assisting in areas where the student needs the greatest support with behavior and social skills
d) Helping to keep the students on task
e) Encouraging the students to attain independence in their work
f) Liaising with subject teachers about the best ways to achieve the learning intentions
g) To express concerns to the subject teacher where the work may prevent inclusion.
· Ensure students are kept safe during learning activities
· To work with groups of identified students in lessons to ensure all students regardless of behaviour needs make expected or better progress
· To ensure staff and students are supported swiftly during lesson times when students struggle to make appropriate choices
School Organisation / · Ensure identification of students needs in relation to attendance and behavior.
· Monitor and ensure SIMs entries are updated and maintained
· Provide data analysis and impact on pastoral teams interventions
· Work alongside all members of staff within the zones to ensure the highest standards in the learning environment is fostered and maintained.
· Lead of monitoring student behaviour and ensure smooth transition between lessons
· Coordinate and carry out break and lunch time supervision as requested
· Support with training and performance management of Pastoral Support Staff and Unit staff where necessary
· Coordinate liaising with outside agencies, including the police and social services
· Coordinate responsibilities and duties of pastoral team, which focus on improving attendance, positive behavior, targeted support for ASD/ADHD students
· Monitor teams impact through regular fortnightly meetings
· Analyse and evaluate the outcomes of intervention programmes and constantly modify interventions to suit the needs of the students
· Support the planning and delivery of community time activities
· Deliver aspects of the school’s Extended Learning Programme to a targeted group of ASD/ADHD students
· Follow school policies and procedures especially those relating to Child Protection and Health & Safety
