Stock Animals

Lisa asked the commission after reading the amendment made to the Keeping of Animals Ordinance if they had anything they would like to add to it. Commissioner Stewart asked if the commission would like to limit keeping stock animals at the arena or allow them in other parts of town. Ms Thompson explained she doesn’t’ think it’s a good idea to allow them anywhere but the rodeo arena.

Chairman Whitney and Commissioner Thompson asked that in the event someone wanted to stop and unload their animals for the night if it was permitted. Ms Thompson explained that this is only for rodeo events. Chairman Whitney asked if they worded it different in the ordinance then it would be allowed. Ms Thompson expressed her concerns of allowing stock animals. She feels if we do this we are going to have numerous complaints however we could change it from rodeo events to special events.

MOTION: Commissioner Thompson made a motion to table this item until next meeting, Commissioner Walker seconded the motion, and all were in favor. The motion passed unanimously.
COMMISION REPORTS AND COMMENTS

 Les Whitney

 Kelly Thompson

 Garland Walker

 Lisa Thompson—Lisa expressed her concerns with the current animal ordinance. We have had several complaints regarding rabbits. Our ordinance states you are allowed 6 rabbits however the number can exceed that until they are six months of age. Rabbits are very difficult to determine their age therefore you can’t control the number allowed. Lisa asked the commission what they felt about changing the number of rabbits and chickens to 6 only. Commissioner Stewart asked about exceeding the number up to a certain amount. Lisa will get in contact with Animal Control and ask for their thoughts and put something together to present at the next meeting.

ADJOURNMENT

As there was no further business, Chairman Whitney adjourned the meeting at 7:30pm

APPROVED by PLANNING & ZONING this 14 day of September, 2016.
