LES Entrepreneurship Fund(2018)
Background:
The LES Entrepreneurship Fund 2018aims at initiating strategic collaborations with new industry partners.
This is a competitive scheme providing fundingup to $5,000 for the initiation of relationships and/or to facilitate the establishment of a relationship with a new industry partner for possible future development of new collaborations.These may include, for example:
- Visit to industry facilities;
- Organisation of workshops;
- Participation in industry conferences, trade shows or exhibition;
- Any other possible idea with clear achievable benefits towards developing a strong relationship with a new industry partner.
Industry partners are hereto consideredas any “for profit” private or public company, not-for-profit organisation or governmental department and suchlike (i.e. any organisation that could be a “partner organisation” for the ARC Linkage funding scheme). The industry partner targeted in this application should be a new industry partner, i.e.having no previous collaborative history with the applicant(s). If not a new industry partner, a specific rationale to justify the requested support must be provided as part of the funding application.
Funding, eligibility and deadlines:
Funding requests should be in the range of $1,000 -$5,000 and all allocated fundsmust be spent before Monday 15 October 2018.
- Chief Investigator(s) (CI) must be an employee of the School of Life and Environmental Sciences for at least half-time (0.5 FTE).
- All LES staff, independent of level of appointment and/or teaching responsibility/research-only status,and/or SRC membership status are therefore eligible.
- A CI can only be named on one application for this funding scheme.
- Any staff that was a named investigator in any successful 2017 application (LES internal funding schemes, 2017) for which a final report was not submitted by the due date is not eligible for any LES internal funding scheme 2018 round.
If applicable, a letter of support from the respective SRC, or other co-contributing body, clearly detailing the intended total cash support for the project must be provided together with the application. (For SRC members, co-contribution from SRC is not mandatory but will be expected.)
The submission deadline is Wednesday 21 February 2018.
Applications received after this date will not be considered.

Selection Criteria
This is a competitive scheme and applications will be scored and ranked on the basis of:
Potential for Project Expansion and Follow-On Funding / 30%Significance and Alignment with LES Research Activities of Targeted Industry/Sector / 20%
Track Record of Chief Investigators / 20%
Feasibility of the Proposal / 20%
SRC and/or Additional Co-Contribution Commitment (if applicable) / 10%
Assessment process
All applications will be assessed by a panel of experts chaired by the Associate Head of School (Research) and outcomes of funding will be notified by Monday5March 2018.
Successful recipient(s) will have to provide a one page summary (use template “LIF18_report”) on progress and achievements by 15 December 2018
