JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: / Associate Principal, High School LevelSTATUS: / 12-Months, Full-Time, 260 Days Contract

REPORTS TO: / Principal

POSITION SUMMARY: Supports the mission of the district and assumes responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal, serves as a representative of the school as a member of the Administrative Council and at all school functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assists in maintaining and implementing discipline throughout the student body.
2. Supervises and evaluates teachers and support staff, as directed by the principal.
3. Assists the principal in the general administration of the school.
4. Serves as principal in the absence of the principal.
5. Represents district policy and procedures to staff, students, and parents.
6. Coordinates development processes for students and staff.
7. Develops master schedule of classes.
8. Assists the principal with establishing and maintaining an effective site-based program for staff development, technology, and school operations.
9. Observes and evaluates students’ progress.
10. School liaison with the community.
11. Participates in all events associated with the school program and District.
12. Supervises co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
13. Participates in district-wide committees and activities as are required or appropriate.
14. Cooperates with various members of the central administrative staff regarding the total school program.
15. Promotes building and District goals.
16. Performs other tasks as assigned by the principal.
17. Attend and lead various meetings, including evenings and weekends.

· Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of clienteles, including district personnel regarding Board of Education Goals, Mission and Vision, and Strategic Decision
· Physical stamina to handle challenging work schedule

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
1. Master’s degree or higher with a major in educational administration.
2. Principal certification in Secondary Administration from the Missouri State Department of Education.
3. Successful assistant principal and supervision experience.
4. Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
5. Ability to interact with a wide variety of persons in a challenging setting.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Ability to work in a variety of locations, travel throughout the District, work non-traditional hours which may include evenings and weekends and meet the physical demands of handling a variety of student needs. While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand and reach.
