2018-2019Internet Use Policy Agreement for students in grades K-8

1. Appropriate Use Policy and Guidelines
HolyCrossCatholicSchool offers online electronic services, including but not limited to theInternet and e-mail for students who are instructed in its use. HolyCrossCatholicSchoolwill makereasonable efforts to prevent students from misusing the information services. However, a student is responsible and must be continuously on guard to avoid inappropriate and/or illegal interaction while connection to the information services.
Listed below is a summary of the provisions of this agreement. If a student violates these provisions, access to information services may be denied and the student may be subject to disciplinary action.
a.) Privileges
My child will abide by the guidelines of the school on what is appropriate use of the Internet.
b.) Personal Responsibility
My child will accept responsibility for reporting any misuse of the network to the appropriate authority (computer teacher, classroom teacher, principal)
c.) Acceptable Use
My child will use only information services that, in the judgment of Holy Cross Catholic School, are related to student education and research in line with the educational goals and objectives of the school (see Handbook for further explanation)
d.) Network Etiquette and Privacy
My child will abide by the generally accepted rules of network etiquette:
1. Never send, or encourage others to send abusive messages.
2. Use appropriate language.
3. Do not reveal his/her home address, personal phone number, or the addresses and phone numbers of other students.
4. Know that e-mail is not guaranteed to be private. He/she will report any messages relating to or in support of illegal activities.
5. Will not use the network in any way that would disrupt use of the network by others.
e.) Security
My child will notify the computer teacher if he/she finds a problem with security, and will not demonstrate the problem to other users. He/she will never use another individual’s account or password.
f.) Vandalism
My child will not intentionally harm or destroy the school’s hardware, software, and/or data of another user(s).
2. Services
Holy Cross Catholic School cannot be responsible for any damages while on this system or held for the accuracy of any information obtained.

I have read and understand the above policies, and have discussed them with my child/ren. I hereby give permission for my child/ren to use the Internet at Holy Cross Catholic School.
