Spot-on Transport Services is a large-scale company that provides courier and delivery services to a range of businesses in Victoria and interstate. The firm is a leader in the transport industry and prides itself on quality customer service.

Six months ago the organisation advertised for a new customer service manager. The advertisement is included below in Figure One. The successful applicant was Rhonda Henderson; she had previous experience in the industry and was the most qualified applicant. Rhonda is highly regarded by her staff. One month ago she undertook her first performance appraisal with the company and the results are included in Figure Two. Her manager, Jimmy Beans, completed the appraisal.

In the last four months the firm has experienced a reduction in business due to two factors - the increasing cost of petrol, which has been passed on to customers in the form of higher charges, and the presence of a new company, Cheap and Speedy Couriers, which has undercut prices. The Managing Director has just released a statement to the media which is outlined in Figure Three.
