The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and care of a specific client group in providing both individual patient care and in planning, implementing and evaluating clinical care within a specialised area of Women’s service. You will ensure compliance with NHS Lanarkshire’s policy and procedures and maintaining statutory requirements in accordance with the NMC to function autonomously with no immediate peers or specialist support.

You will be a Registered Midwife with valid NMC Registration, educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level with Post graduate expertise within speciality. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice is required along with excellent team-working/leadership skills and the ability to motivate others.

Provides specialist clinical expertise and act as an information resource for all professionals across the service

Women’s Services comprises of an Integrated Community/Hospital Maternity Service, Neonatl service, Gynaecology and Women’s Health Unit Service and Infertility Service.

5.  MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
·  Planning, assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating planned programmes of care
·  Being an advocate for women and their families.
·  Provide a health education role for women and their partners and extended families.
·  Setting and maintaining standards of care.
·  Recognising deviations from normal and implementing appropriate action
·  Lead in the formulating of policy and procedures within their speciality.

·  Is accessible to women/families and staff to ensure an opportunity to seek information, help and support is available.

·  Facilitates and implements training opportunities for junior midwifery/nursing and medical staff which meets their development needs.

·  Provides reports on complaints received in relation to the service and or staff.
·  Ensures efficient and effective use of resources within the department i.e. monitoring stock control for specialist information leaflets.

·  Maintain and improve the resources of this specialist service to enable to meet future service needs and to enable staff (and those of partner agencies) to function safely and well, within this speciality.
