Deceptive Practices and other events

2 Oct 15, 1155 hours. Fraud. 4777 N Harlem Ave. U.S. Bank. Branch manager stated that unk off(s) had been making multiple withdrawal/deposit transactions in the checking account of a Juny, Jolena P and this account was closed for insufficient funds. The bank has suffered a loss of $18,354.33. HHPD Detective Division investigating.

9 Oct 15, 0900 hours. Endangering Health/Life of a Child. 4445 N Sayre Ave. HHPD Officer’s received 911 call of a motor vehicle crash involving 2 parked vehicles. Further investigation led to the arrest of the driver a Bermudez, Yolotzin F/W 22 YOA, 2103 N Laramie, Chicago for Misdemeanor Endanger life/Health Child along with several traffic offenses.

10 Oct 15, 0737 hours. Hit-N-Run Crash. 4600 N Oak Park Ave (Union Ridge School). HHPD Officers received a 911 call of a vehicle striking the school then leaving the scene. Further investigation led to the arrest of a Beda, Lubomir S M/W 60 YOA, 4747 N Nagle HH who was charged with Misdemeanor traffic offenses and Damage to Village Property.

13 Oct 15, 1925 hours. Identity Theft. 7518 W Winnemac Ave. Victim stated that unk off(s) had used his identity opening an account with U.S. Bank National and had used a Visa Credit card to charge a purchase in the amount of $18,121.36. HHPD Detective Division investigating.

Burglary / Thefts / Criminal Damage to Property

1-2 Oct 15, 2000-0700 hours. Garage Burglary. 4522 N Newland Ave. Victim stated that he observed that unk off(s) had entered his unlocked garage service door and removed items from 2 unlocked 2012 jeep Patriots being 2 pairs if sunglasses, 1 IPOD, 1 auxiliary chord and a Dice game from within the garage. A neighbor had observed a male subject, 5’10” tall, med build, red hoodie, brown pants leaving the scene on a mountain type bike at 0500 hours. HHPD Detective Division investigating.

1-2 Oct 15, 1500-1100 hours. Criminal Damage to Property. 4530 N New England Ave. Victim stated that unk off(s) had loosened his garage service door handle.

2 Oct 15, 0800 hours. Criminal Damage to Property. 7530 W Lawrence Ave. Victim stated that unk off(s) had broken a glass block window with a bat type object.

2 Oct 15, 0645-1915 hours. Garage Burglary. 4542 N New England Ave. Victim stated that unk off(s) had entered her unlocked garage service door and had taken a black 26” Men’s cruiser LaJolla bicycle valued at $250.00 along with a $50.00 Kryptonite U-Lock.

3-4 Oct 15, 1930-0105 hours. Burglary/Forced. 4644 N Newland Ave. Victim stated that unk off(s) had pried open his basement rear door and ransacked his bedrooms. The victim will provide HHPD with a list of items taken. HHPD E.T. was on scene. HHPD Detective Division investigating.

7 Oct 15, 1530 hours. Retail Theft. 7401 W Lawrence (Mariano’s). Loss Prevention agent stated that on 2 Oct 15, 1250 hours he observed on CCTV a M/W subject place 5 Nescafe Taster coffee, 3 Crest white strips and 2 Prilosec 42 count pills inside black bags in his cart then left the store without paying. The subject is described as a M/H wearing a red cap, black sweatshirt, black pants and glasses. The subject then entered a beige Chevy Cavalier IL Plate # 1690391 and left the area N/B 4700 block Olcott Ave. HHPD Detective Division investigating.

10 Oct 15, 1407-1434 hours. Felony Retail Theft. 7401 W Lawrence. (Mariano’s). Loss Prevention agent stated he had stopped an M/W subject who had just exited the store that he observed taking a large amount of Gillette razor blades and vodka in the amount of $626.65 without paying for the merchandise. The incident was also captured on CCTV. A Dettlo, Francis G M/W 27 YOA, 404 Woodlaine Ct, Wood Dale was arrested on a signed Felony complaint for Felony Retail Theft and was held in lieu of a bond hearing.

10 Oct 15, 1015-1030 hours. Attempt Burglary. 4556 N Newcastle Ave. Unk off(s) had attempted to pry open his residence rear balcony sliding glass door.

12-13 Oct 15, 1145 hours. Theft from Motor Vehicle. 7305 W Foster Ave. Victim stated that unk off(s) had taken the spare tire from the rear trunk rack from her parked black 2015 Jeep Wrangler.

14 Oct 15, 1200-2000 hours. Theft. 4713 N Harlem Ave. (Cricket Wireless). Complainant stated that a white LG Risio cell phone valued at $49.99 was missing from the rear storeroom. HHPD Detective Division investigating.

16 Oct 15, 1941 hours. Retail Theft. 7401 W Lawrence. (Mariano’s). Loss Prevention agent stated that he observed on CCTV a M/H subject, late 20’s to mid 30’s with short hair and a goatee, black shirt, black jacket, blue jeans, black Chuck Taylor Converse gym shoes place 3 bottles of Grey Goose vodka and 2 bottles of Makers Mark bourbon inside of his jacket liner then walked out of the store without paying for the alcohol valued at $173.13. HHPD Detective Division investigating.

17 Oct 15, 1335 hours. Retail Theft. 7401 W Lawrence. (Mariano’s). Loss Prevention agent stated that he observed on CCTV a F/H subject, mid 20’s, brunette hair, black sweatpants and shirt with a grey tank top place meat, vodka and razors into her black purse valued at $281.51 then left the store without paying for the items. HHPD Detective Division investigating.

17 Oct 15, 1925 hours. Retail Theft. 7401 W Lawrence. (Mariano’s). Loss Prevention agent stated that he had stopped a M/W subject who had taken a bottle of Skol vodka placing it inside his backpack then walked out of the store without paying for it. A Mulica, Richard P M/W 38 YOA, 6634 N Sheridan RD, Chicago was charged with Misdemeanor Retail Theft on a signed complaint.

19-20 Oct 15, 2240-0800 hours. Criminal Damage to Property. 7343 W Lawrence Ave. (Buona Beef). Manager stated that unk off(s) had broken two windows on the building with unk objects. Manager will provide Surveillance tape. HHPD Detective Division investigating.

20 Oct 15, 0600 hours. Criminal Damage to Vehicle. 7613 W Norridge St. Victim stated that unk off(s) had tampered with the rear lock of his white 1999 Ford Econoline van.

21-22 Oct 15, 1800-0700 hours. Burglary to Motor Vehicle. 6452 W Montrose Ave. Victim stated that unk off(s) had broken out the driver’s side window of his white 2012 Nissan Frontier pickup truck takinga black leather wallet, $120.00 U.S.C., driver’s license, 4 credit cards with one used to purchase 2 Ventra CTA passes valued at $170.00. HHPD Detective Division investigating.

21 Oct 15, 1133 hours. Retail Theft. 5142 N Harlem Ave. (Salon Centric). Store manager stated that on 15 Sep 15, 1050 hours CCTV showed a F/B subject, drk hair, drk vest, beige shirt, drk pants place numerous bottles of nail polish inside a drk purse valued at approximately $1,000.00 then exit the store without paying. HHPD Detective Division investigating.

22 Oct 15, 1323 hours. Attempt Burglary/ Forced. 6426 W Gunnison St. Building owner stated that unk off(s) had attempted to pry open the rear door with an unk type tool damaging the door and frame. HHPD Detective Division investigating.

Crimes against Persons

3 Oct 15, 0756 hours. Felony Disorderly Conduct. 6858 W Montrose Ave. Complainant called HHPD about a hit-n-run type crash with his vehicle and that a witness had left a note on his windshield with the offending, striking vehicle plate information. Further investigation by HHPD was that the victim actually rear ended another vehicle the previous day at Foster and Montclair in Chicago and was filing a false police report. A Junkovic, Peter M/W 20 YOA, 6849 W Montrose HH was charged with Felony Disorderly Conduct on a signed complaint and was held in lieu of a bond hearing.

10-11 Oct 15, 2330-0000 hours. Battery. 6764 W Forest Preserve Drive. (Skores Bar). Victim stated while at the bar with his wife a two female friends a M/W subject later ID as a Labek, Joseph S 29 YOA 3342 N Panama, Chicago was bothering the females with the victim informing Mr. Labek that the girls are married and not interested in him and to leave them alone. Later in the evening Mr. Labek approached the victim and stated “You don’t know who you are messing with”, then proceeded to punch the victim in the face with a closed fist 10 times. Skores doorman then removed Mr. Labek from the bar who then left the area. HHPD Detective Division investigating.

24 Oct 15, 1315 hours. Domestic Battery. 4908 N Octavia Ave. Victim stated she was involved in a physical altercation with her aunt and that she was pushed by her causing an injury to her right elbow. Arrested for Misdemeanor Domestic Battery and Violation of an Order of Protection on signed complaints was a Giffin, Denise M F/W 58 YOA, 4908 N Octavia Ave who was held in lieu of a bond hearing.

26 Oct 15, 1745 hours. Domestic Battery. 6818 W Forest Preserve Drive. Victim stated his step father started an altercation with him upon arriving home from work and that he punched him in his left eye and that his sister began pulling his hair while they fought. Subjects separated by other family members with HHPD officers arriving on scene. Investigation led to the arrest of a Malatare, Leonard G M/W, 60 YOA, 6818 W Forest Preserve Drive and a Cosson, Kiva R F/W 37 YOA, 6818 W Forest Preserve Drive both for Misdemeanor Domestic Battery on signed complaints. Both subjects held in lieu of a bond hearing.

Home repair scams/ Ruse burglaries. Reminder: Do not allow anyone into your residence that you do not know and didn’t call for service.
Scam artists knock on your door offering to repair something in or around your home for a very low price. They ask you to pay upfront and you will never see them again or if you allow them inside your residence, they will distract you and steal your valuables.
All Village Employees/PublicWworks have IDs on them at all times. Ask for ID and call 911 for verification.
