GUATEMALA
Infrastructure
Communication:
The communication system and technology has improved with the years, but still there are a lot of places, most rural areas, that are not covered. Most people in rural areas prefer to use a cell phone than to have a phone at home. And like there are people that uses, most of indigenas (native Guatemalan) don’t use, they are not manipulated by a real need or less by a marketing or tendencies strategy.
Transportation:
The only transportation system we have for the rural areas of the country, are busses, that go overloaded, not ensured and very bad drivers, and some times not available economically for some people to move like that.
Also the biggest problem is that for some far away town, there’s no road at all, an if there is its not wide enough, for a car or bus to go trough, so people are used to walk miles to get to there jobs, as well to there houses.
Power availability:
In rural areas, most of the people are extremely poor, and the cover of electricity around the country is really bad, most of the people, create heat, and light with good trunks, that they get from the surrenders.
Government interference, and corruption
Sadly Guatemala has had very bad government system that have not done nothing for the needed people, and so still money. For an example, the ex President Rios Mont, a total corrupt a genocide, (you can find him behind hittler as the worst of the worst killers) he sent to kill full towns, of innocent people. Another big example can be our expresident Portillo. He stole billions, and run away living the country more poor than what was before, not only economically but also more insecure.
There is a big problem because people as them become presidents helped by the ignorance of many people especially on rural areas that get manipulated by there promises and lies.
Culture
Poverty
Is the biggest issue of our country, based and held by the government, but also by the education missing of the native Guatemalan people, but mostly by the way they think, conforming with what they have, easy living I would say, not thinking in improving (I don’t mean by becoming rich or making money) just been better persons.
Indigenas culture
Real native indigenas, it’s a nice culture to learn from, they have traditions, which have an interesting story. They believe in many gods, and do rituals, but also have adorations for the goods, like the corn, etc.
Its part of the indigenas culture that girls, stay home helping their moms while men children help to bring food to home.
Birth Rate
Because of the big ignorance that exists in our country specially in rural areas, they don’t have the knowledge of protection and also they don’t have the money to keep up with all the children so that’s why the parents prefer to sent their kids to work on the field than to study, to become better persons. And girls go to school but by certain time they stay helping at home.
Sustainability
The reality of Guatemala between distances, can be short, it can be an hour or a little more, depending of the department, but to the nearby towns to state roads, or to important towns. But actually the real problem is the people that live really in to the mountain or miles aways from roads, and has to walk or move in bicycle to get in or out of their places.
There houses are most made of wood, trunks, a week sealing, and a actually very unsecured construction. Now in Guatemala there are some projects of reconstruction of poor houses affected by the hurricane stain that affected most rural areas of the country in a catastrophically way. This new constructions can be made of combined materials, or trash as so used materials, based on aislant or cold, or water, etc.
