PAF Update Instructions
PAF update
The PRIAM PAF update is available to download and install. We have just completed the process of making this update for PRIAM.
These are short instructions for the installation procedure.
- Download the zip file paf-May2013.zip from You will find the update in the PAF update folder.
- Copy to your PRIAM server.
Manual Import
- Run SYS62 and give the full pathname to the file eg |home|m21|export|paf-May2013.zip
(you may also use forward slashes as delimiters if filename not recognized).
- Wait a while until PAF loads. When PAF has been loaded, you will see the new version number shown at the top of the screen. (you may need to re-run SYS62 to view this change).
- If SYS62 fails to inflate the zip file or gives some other error then contact PRIAM support using our support website for advice. We can send you a CD containing the PAF update.
Scheduled Import
- You can also schedule the PAF update to be loaded overnight if you would prefer to do this out of hours. You run SYS62 then when prompted, choose the scheduled import. In PRIAM scheduler, you need to set up the scheduled task:
Routine SCH^GGN38()
Job ID 1
Function Load PAF update
Date 28DEC211 Time 03:00
Repeat Interval 100y
Parameters 1
Active Y
The repeat interval is set too 100Y so it doesn’t repeat the next day. The pathname to the file and UCI are taken from SYS62 settings which are stored.
Changes to PAF
June 2009
As of that update, Royal Mail have supplied PRIAM with just the main PAF files (which contain the main addressing data) and Postzone files (which contain the geographic data).
County information forms part of the Royal Mail Alias file – this is separate from the main PAF file. We have not taken this file from Royal Mail since June 2009. You will notice this change when processing new accounts or updating existing accounts with new address detail from the PAF; the county line will be blank.
If this causes a problem, please advise us and we will review the situation.
May 2012
As an interesting note, Royal Mail have introduced a range of non-geographic postcodes into the PAF that can be used in place of BFPO Postcodes, but since PRIAM already handles BFPO postcodes, there is no immediate requirement to use them. They are aimed at mail order systems that cannot handle BFPO postcodes.
