EQUIPMENT RENTAL POLICIES
1. Failure to return the equipment on time will result in a late fee. Our standard late fee is one half the weekend rental rate for that item per day (weekends included). Late fees will begin to accrue the day immediately following the due date. A $15 processing charge will be added for gearmore than ten days late.
2. All equipment is cleaned and inspected before it is rented and is determined to be in good working condition with all damage and missing items noted. You are responsible for all damaged and missing equipment not noted prior to your usage. Please inspect all rental equipment beforeyou leave Outdoor Adventures.
3. Equipment should be returned in the condition it was rented. Staff will perform a preliminary inspection of the equipment while you are present to ensure that all items are returned. Upon further cleaning, if any damage is found, you will be contacted regarding the charges. There will be a cleaning/repair charge for dirty/wet or damaged equipment.
4. If the equipment is lost, stolen or, in the judgment of the Outdoor Adventures, damaged beyond repair, the renter assumes full financial responsibility for replacing the item(s).
5. There are no refunds for rental equipment.
6. Quality outdoor equipment is expensive. Please read through the estimated replacement cost list before signing. Actual replacement costs may change at any time. Feel free to ask the replacement cost for any piece of equipment not included on the list.
7. Deposit: You must have an active student/staff ID card presented when renting equipment. If you do not have one, you will be required to leave a deposit. Alumni and the General Public must always put down a deposit. Ask staff for deposit amounts. The deposit will be in the form of a credit card authorization or check. We will ensure the appropriate amount is available on your card. Three days after you have returned your equipment, your deposit will be available for pick up or we will shred the deposit. The deposit may be used for damages, lost equipment, and additional cleaning costs.
8. I understand that if I fail to return the rented equipment by the required date and/or have an outstanding balance due to the Outdoor Adventuresfor the replacement cost of the equipment that was not returned or for a penalty assessed for returning the property late, a hold will be placed on my student account preventing registration and I will not be eligible to enroll in subsequent semesters at USD. The hold will be lifted once I return the equipment and/or pay late and damage fees.
