1.Objective
6-Sigma is a total management commitment and philosophy of excellence, customer focus and process improvement. 6-Sigma is about making every area of the organisation better able to meet the changing needs of customers, markets, and technologies. The objective of the 6-Sigma Champion course is to introduce a comprehensive concept and tools of the 6-Sigma to enable participants to implement 6-Sigma programmein their companies and become RQP(SSC).
2.Introduction
6-Sigma Champions are the key persons to success in every 6-Sigma programme. For small and large organisations, the ability to identify the right projects, select and mentor the right people, and drive 6-Sigma to produce breakthrough results is the responsibility of the 6-Sigma Champion. 6-Sigma Champions are executives and managers with significant overall business responsibility. It is the selection of individuals with ultimate responsibility for the business that ensures Black Belts have the support they need to succeed. Participants receive extensive training in the fundamental concepts, the basic tools and methods of 6-Sigma as well as project selection, change management, and the management of 6-Sigma and Black Belts within an organisation. The six-session training course is highly interactive with a hands-on project selection workshop.

4.Award
Participations passed the examination will be awarded a joint Certificate of Six Sigma Champion issue by the Six Sigma Institute and the Hong Kong 5-S Association. They are entitled to be registered as a Registered Quality Professional (Six Sigma Champion) with the Six Sigma Institute and used the title of RQP (SSC) after their names.
5.Trainers
Dr.YKChanDMgt, DEng,Founder 6-Sigma Institute (HK),FIEE, RPE, FHKIE, FHKQMA, RQP(MBB)
has over 30 years experience in engineering and management positions in various industries. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He has rich teaching experience in the field of operations management, quality management, team and motivation, leadership and strategic management from diploma to doctoral level. He acts as Supervisor of MSc and DBA research projects and Member of Viva Voce Panel for over 100 MBA students. Dr. Chan is an Expert Member of the National 6-Sigma Promotion Board of the China Quality Association. As a Registered Master Black Belt, he has led and completed many 6-Sigma Projects during the past few years. Dr. Chan is a member of the Organizing Committee of the Hong Kong Award for Industry, Panel of Judges for the Hong Kong Award for Industry: Quality, Board of Examiners of the HKMA Quality Award, and Panel of Judges of the Hong Kong Quality Circle Award as well as being its Founder. Dr. Chan has been enlisted as a member of the International Who’s Who of professionals and a member of the Who’s in Who in Asia and the Pacific Nations in 1998.
Prof. Sam Ho 5-S/6-σ Master Black-belt, Founder Chair-HK5SA/ICIT, PhD(Mgt.),FIQA,Assessor-EQA/HKQA
has rich experience in researching, developing and conducting a proprietary set of 5-S training programs. Brought up in Hong Kong, he taught in the UK during 1988-97. There, he gained the first UK Professorship on Strategy & Quality, and was also the first Chinese Professor in Management. He was the first Quality Expert to the Malaysian Government, working on the Asian Development Bank project to help the country to develop a five year quality plan in 1993-94. The 6- quality management concept was born in 1986 at Motolora. During that year, Prof. Ho had an opportunity to train a group of Motorola managers/engineers at their Malaysia plant in a MSc course in Production Management. At the beginning, the 6-initiative was designed to change the culture in Motorola through better quality control and improvement. Then, over the years, it has been developed as the breakthrough improvement in all aspects of the business. The successful implementation of6-in Motorola led to a period of unprecedented growth and sales. The remarkable achievement was being recognized with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. It was further observed that both their Malaysian and HK plants had successful 5-S implementation based on Prof. Ho’s proprietary 5-S Checklist. As the Master Black-belt in 5-S/6-σ, Prof. Ho was also instrumental for saving several million US dollars using his 5-S/6-σ approach in different types of industry, including restaurants, hospitals, manufacturing, construction, services industries and the public sector. Prof. Ho has also published several papers on 5-S/6-σ, including the recent “TQM Best Practice: from 5-S to 6-Sigma” presented at the 9-ICIT in Bangkok in Apr 04 and awarded the best-paper. He will be chairing the 10-ICIT in Shanghai in Mar 05, with the theme "TQM and 6-Sigma for Competitiveness"
