Dear Coaches and Derby Teams,

We are so excited to welcome you for the 2016-2017 Academic Derby Season!!

The studio is located on the cultural arts wing (the football stadium side of Southwest) and has an outside entrance and waiting lobby of our very own! As a result of security measures implemented in all Onslow County Schools, the door to the studio lobby will be locked at ALL TIMES and only open to admit teams and guests 10 minutes prior to game start and then closed again. All guests and parents MUST sign in at the front office at Southwest High School with a driver’s license and receive a visitors tag before they are allowed entrance in the studio. No visitor’s tag, no entrance. Again, entrance to the studio is only through the outside entrance on the cultural arts wing. Please advise your visitors that they need to be on time (signed in at front with visitors tag) or they risk not being admitted to the studio in a timely fashion. We will try to check for visitors between matches, but are staff limited to be able to person the door in an effective and secure manner beyond these steps and timeframes. Thank you for your understanding in this security effort!

Elementary teams will be admitted beginning @ 9:00a.m. for the first match. Doors will open as soon as the first match has ended; at that time we will allow the second match teams and visitors to enter.

Each School will be able to have a TOTALof 17 attendees from each playing team!This includes coach, team members and spectators; siblings are excluded from attending.

Because we will not admit anyone in our hallway entrance during Derby, bathrooms will be accessible only through the outside library entrance just down the walkway from our outside lobby entrance.

ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD, GUM, CANDY or DRINKS ALLOWED (including water or cups with tops - opened or closed - or bottles with caps-opened or closed) will be allowed in the studio. You will be asked to leave all drinks - opened or not - in the lobby area.

Middle School Derby will be played in the Spring ONLY and we will have a playoff match between the top 4 teams.

Derby will be broadcast again on G10 and we will have them as video on demand at and on You Tube.
