CHRIST’S CONCERN FOR CHILDREN
Matthew 18:1-6, 10; Mark 9:37; 10:13-16
At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted; and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 18:1-6, 10)
Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for such is the kingdom of God.
Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
(Mark 9:37; 10:13-16)
Chant: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen! Amen!

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
October 19, 2008
“When times are dark, turn to the Light” (Pastor Jones, October, 2008). We live in an age of sound-bites and simplistic answers, causing one to wonder if we are not making complex problems unrealistically simple. In the instant case, the simple, but yet profound, saying is right on target. Consider the uncertainty of the times in which we live. We are in the aftermath of a very destructive Hurricane Ike. Many homes have suffered damage, families have been displaced. And there is the ever present unscrupulous contractor preying on hurting people. And of course the hurricane came ashore at a time that we are experiencing a severe economic downturn. Add to the mix, a mean-spirited political campaign, thus “dark-times” is an accurate characterization of our day. “When times are dark, turn to the Light.” In Him (Jesus) is life; and the life is the light of men. Jesus is the true Light, who lighteth every man that came into the world, the world that He made. Hear what Jesus says in John 8:12: “I am the light of the world; he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” Remember, He came that we might have the abundant life.
Dear Ones, whatever is the problem, turn to the Light. Be blessed as you walk in the Light.
