Salaam Alaykum Parents and my Beloved Students,

Alhamdullilah we had another great year in our Qur’an program here at Universal School. I highly stress your children to work on their reading and memorizing Surahs. Below are some Qur’an goals that should be completed throughout the summer. The goal of this summer Qur’an initiative is to give our students, especially our new ones a chance to get caught up with the rest of the class and/or be ahead of the class which is even better. The material posted below should be learned and/or memorized throughout the summer. This is the material that will be graded for the throughout the upcoming school year. Please learn and review the material below for your child’s own benefit inshAllah. Those students who memorize and practice what is written here well be far ahead of their classmates during the upcoming school year.

May Allah give you success,

Brother Zahir/Qur’an Department Director

*Learn some of the main etiquettes of Qur’an, i.e. Making the correct intention before learning Qur’an, having wudhu before one touches the Mus-haf, saying both the Isti’adha and Basmallah before commencing with Qur’an, not putting the Qur’an on the floor, etc. Please see the page below. Note: The etiquettes listed below are not limited to these. Of course, there are more, however, the students should learn the most important ones first.

7 Important Etiquettes of Qur’an

1.  Always Make dua for yourself as well as your teacher. Ask Allah to be happy with you and your Quran teacher :)

2.  Make and have a firm intention to read, study and memorize Qur’an no other than the pleasure of Allah Most High and to make Him happy.

3.  Have wudhu prior to touching the Mus-haf.

4.  Make sure one’s mouth is clean whether it be using a miswak, toothbrush or simply washing one’s mouth out with water

5.  Read and recite using the rules and science of Tajweed to the best of one’s ability.

6.  Recite the Isti’adha and Basmalah prior to reading any verse from the Qur’an.

7.  To makes sure one’s clothes as well as the place one is sitting is clean.

There are many more we will learn in school inshAllah
